US Divers ABS

Sat Aug 22, 2015 11:41 pm

So I ended up buying this from a nice older lady in Fayetteville, NC a couple weeks ago while on vacation. I was able to buy new plastic snap rivots for the case and make two new straps for the tank bands. Luckily I had some newer Luxfer 30s that I'm going to use. Since it didnt come with the original BC, I had to improvise, My buddy and I made some threaded adapters and spacers and now I'm able to mate it to a modern backplate. I may have to add some more holes in the plate if I dont like where it mounts but we'll see how it goes.

Don't remember ever seeing such a rig.....Nice score!
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

Ryan Spence used to dive them I think. I know he has them in his collection.

The ABS system was from the 1980's and had a BCD attached to the shell housing that had triple 30 cu. ft. tanks. An upgrade to the yellow UDS-1 System from the mid 1970's.

Guys, isn't that the case off a USD1 and not an ABS, I have an ABS and it is curved on both sides. I have photos but unfortunately I am not where I have access to them right now. The ABS has 3 AL-30s-a on a V shaped manifold, the outlet is in the center, not the edge like this one.
