Thanks Gilldiver & Captain. Luckily I've got all the stuff to do this, just got to get up the nerve to sacrifice one of my J-valves.

Thanks,
Bill

I was not able to find 3.5" nipples but Ryan Spence finally did. I have a feeling 4" will be even harder to find if at all but it would be possible to fabricate longer nipples with an O ring seal rather than the metal to metal one but a lathe and naval brass bar stock would be required and would greatly complicate the job.

The 3.5” nipples are from Superior Products:
http://www.superiorprod.com/

The nipples can be found under Welding/Industrial fittings section in the Nipples catalog on page 14, part number NP-213. These work well with the Luxifer 30’s that have a diameter of 4.9".

For the Catalina 30 and 40’s and the Luxifer 40 tanks, the tank diameter is 5.25”, so for a set of triples, I figure a required spacing on center of 6” in order to get a ¾” space for the bands and bolts. I’m thinking about using the 3.5” pipe extension found in the Adaptors catalog on page 8 as part number B-430 and use a 2 or 2.5” nipple and trim the extension and re-taping it as required to get the 6” on center needed with the Catalina tanks.

Triple Catalina 30’s would be
Empty weight 41.1
Buoyancy full -7.2
Buoyancy empty -.6

Triple Catalina 40’s would be:
Empty weight 47.7
Buoyancy full -7.8
Buoyancy empty 5.1

For comparison a Faber Steel HP 120 is
Empty weight 48.3
Buoyancy full -16.22
Buoyancy empty -7.22
