Phoenix DIN - HELP!

Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:07 am

Well, tragedy struck.... PRAM took a fall while tinkering in the shop, and it hit the floor (concrete). It is the "early" DIN version (the satin one). The assembly that retains the handwheel and has the o-ring took the full hit on the edge. Anyone have an idea what/where a replacement can be had?

I know Bryan was using a Brand specific one.....

Post a picture. I'm pretty sure it's from a Titan

I'm borrowing one from a friend because they're basically unobtanium... Not available as "new" so you'll have to scour the web for used ones

That doesn't look too bad. At least from the pictures it looks like it could still be functional, not pretty, but functional.

Is the area capturing the O-ring still mostly intact?

You may need to carefully clean up some of the rough edges with a very small file, but at least from the pictures it still looks like it could make a reliable seal.

Is that really the older threads, using the Aqua Lung Titan adapter or is that the Metric adapter? It looks like it could be the newer one, but I would have to go look.

Update:
Yeah, I just checked, that is not the Aqua Lung Titan or the Conshelf DIN adapter. But it does look like the newer Metric threads. Bryan should be able to get you a new one of those DIN adapters.

That is a relatively new Phoenix. The Argonaut Tom has was fabricated with the older original US Divers custom threads. Only the old Aqua Lung DIN adapters will fit on it.

Unless it's bent, I would think some careful file work would get it back to working.....not pretty but functional.

My OCD does not allow that look, and it is a bit more than what I like into the o-ring groove...

Hoping Bryan can assist as Luis thinks. I know things are on hold with his activities. I have other (non-DIN) DH regs to dive, but just like this one a bunch. The length of the DIN assembly really sets the can nicely into my shoulder blades.

While you are waiting for Bryan to get you a replacement, you should try it as it is. Think of it as therapy for your OCD...

It might just work. Then again Bryan should be able to get you a replacement... eventually...

Good luck
