Late 1970's Typhoon MKIII Regulator Set

Sat Jan 16, 2016 4:19 pm

I got hold of this last week but have yet to find a single document on Typhoon branded Scuba regulators.

My first horizontal 1st stage with one HP port and three LP ports

Unusual Yoke rated to 4000psi / 280 Bar

The three LP ports

No identification on the 1st Stage other than on the plastic knob

The 2nd Stage

It's tank contents gauge

Tried it first in a sink and for a few breaths it worked but then it started to bubble air through the front of the 2nd Stage - diaphragm rotted :(

However, in poor external shape I had a Dacor set of regs and the diaphragm was an exact match.

Used it for 30 minutes in a nice warm swimming pool and it seems to work fine but was wondering if anyone knows any more about this model.

It also came with a Typhoon branded tank made in 1978 in a nice shade of orange without a single test stamp on it.

Thanks for the tip, and looking at the 1973 Sportsways catalog (on this site) it looks like the W-200

The scuba tank is the exact same color as in this brochure and I think the harness is as well.

The LP hose on the regs has "U.S. CAVALFFRO PRESSURE TESTED" stamped on it should it mean anything to anyone :)

A picture of its Typhoon branded tank which also says "REYNOLDS" on it who it would seem used to make scuba tanks.

Not a single test stamp on it and such a nice shiny valve branded Typhoon

automan, The UK company "Typhoon" started trading in the mid 1950's and still in the market place today, in their timescale imported a cross range of regulators ie Rose Pro, Healthways, etc and your unit from the French company "Cavalero" which also had trading connections with "Sportsways"

Introduced as the "Air Deep" circa 1977 was rebadged in the UK as "Typhoon MK111" If you have access to past issues of "Skin Diver Magazine" there is a in depth article in the August 1977 issue,
If you email can send adds and drawings [email protected]

Return to “Single Hose Regulators.”
