THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST STATEMENTS I HAVE READ BY ANYONE IN A VERY VERY LONG TIME!!!! I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!!!!
Well someone has been offended, since I couldn't disagree with this quote any more... I apologise that I am a newbie to vintage diving and that I was also not born until after the date that dive gear becomes vintage. Furthermore, I'm not quite sure what equates to being an armchair vintage diver, but from past comments and questions that I have asked, I guess that makes me one of them.

The great thing about this and the VSS message board is the wealth of information that is available to the newbie collector. Simple questions such as dusting latex duckbills actually help those of us who didn't have the chance to dive these regulators when they were new equipment.

I have made my fair share of stupid questions ("How do I go about checking the 2nd stage pressure of a Mistral?") and I am sure that I will ask many more. Now I have come to the quandary of where do I ask such questions if this is not the forum for them?

I've noticed that as questions are asked on Scuba Board, one of the first comments is usually visit this site or VSS. I am also wondering if that is the correct thing to say to the new vintage divers?

Enough of my rant, I feel like cleaning my AM and dusting off my Apeks reg... some of my other gear has been missing me.

Hey, :D , y'all behave or I am gonna have to let Captain Fathom loose on you. When he whips up on y'all with that dual snorkel mask I here tell it leaves whelps that make a sting ray sting seem like bee sting. Yeah and Gomez may come along too.

NO ONE has ever been picked on for asking a question......People HAVE been picked on for flogging a dead horse.

Armchair Quarterbacking has nothing in common with asking a question. It a whole different form of BS.....99.9% of the time it is done by people that don't know ____ from shinola, _____ from 3rd base etc. but they want you to think they do.....I could go on and on but I think it's enough. I hope this explains it a little better.
I love new members to the forum. Questions are our favorites. It's what makes it a great place....Plus I know all the lies that most of yall tell anyway so we need new stories!

Divers getting into Vintage Gear is what keeps this site and forum going.. I am sure you have noticed that I put a huge amount of time, effort and money into keeping it fresh and interesting....
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB
