Reproduction Main Diaphragms

Allan I have one on the workbench right now with a brand new center disc being glued to it for you to try in your Mistral..... I am using Aqua-Seal for now but the company that is making the diaphragms discussed the application with Loctite and they are sending me an adhesive for the production diaphragms and centers. The adhesive will be black, so I chose to use the clear Aqua-Seal on the samples.

Is there a downside to them being clear other than they will yellow with age? I kinda like the idea as Luis mentioned of being able to see through and see the alignment of the tabs. I imagine the black rubber duckbills will discolor them as well.

One of the things I did to make my Phoenix equipped RAM breahbetter after my first pool test was to take the best diaphram out of my NOS RAM and install it in the Phoenix. Bryan, I think you are spot on as is Ryan, the diaphran, even very small differences in softness, can have a huge difference in the way the regulator breaths.

I like teh clear as well,, until its gets that dirty ytellowy colour from use in poluted water. Black just hides the dirt, but clear or even the colour of the teflon HP seats (conshelf) is a nice colour.

Treasureman, Bryan will probably choke us but I kinda like your transparent blue color idea also. You could still see thruogh it to align the tabs and yet it would be somewhat more resistant to obvious discoloration. Of course, black is the only color that will not show discoloration--duh--but I have clear silicone masks that have turned yellow and are still soft and pliable as the day I bought them so other than asthetics I don't think it matters unless Bryan or somebody has more info.

Oh, sorry, one thing, if they are transparent you might be able to see the adhesive which might not be attractive--does it even matter? I don't know, just thinking here.

Manufacturer says black/clear or any other color makes no difference as far as durability. The stretch/shrinkage is all taken out of them during the mold process and according to them the flexibilty should last for years unless exposed to harsh chemicals or left in the direct sunlight.
Makes no difference to me either way.....

Color, color. For a Mistral with no tabs, what the difference? Maybe pink to match fins? Can't wait to try. By using a clear silicone, the diaphrams will be very easy to id. But seeing as how it is behind my head, I guess I will have to bring the trusty Agua Krafto rear view mirror:

i would buy them at around $50.00 silicon sound the best way to go and last for a very long time.

I vote for black as it looks like the original.

As for the Aqua Krafto mighty wrist mirror, Allan, you could just paste Ivan's picture in it and you wouldn't have to look at all.

As for diving, it's cold in Melbourne and my dry suit is in for repairs. I'm just watcing Mike Nelson DVDs at the moment, then off to Truk Lagoon next month.

USed to have a nice skin tight black rubber wetsuit. then the wife started to give me such lacivious looks. I swtiched to nylon two sides
