It's ok, though. You're in OC, I'm in LA. We'll just have to make sure we don't head over to Catalina at the same time...I don't think the island could handle all that awesomeness at once!

Today I did my first two dives on my new Kraken. We dived the Blue Heron Bridge.

Before the tide, and I did a 37 minute shakedown, testing the new regulator, and the way I set it up, followed at high tide by a 2 hour and 53 minute dive with friends from Australia and Florida poking around for critters to photograph.

Everything went well, and I see no reason to change anything about my set up right now. I intend to dive the reg the rest of the week just as I set it up.

On our FL trip last week I dove my new Kraken double hose for the first time from Sun until Thurs eve, and then on Fri I loaned the Kraken to another friend to try, and I dove my single hose zeigle for the first time in a week.

After @ 8 1/2 hours of diving that new double hose, I was stunned by how much the bubbles around my face irritated me when I went back to my single hose set up...... I didn't think I would be that aware of the difference, but for the first time I really began to appreciate how much the Kraken changes the dive experience for me.

There are still times when, heads down, I sense a bit of a drag on my breath, but the venturi easily overcomes that, but it is the lack of bubbles, and the sound of the bubbles all around my face that really impacted my perception of the dive. I could hear a lot more "fish sounds" and ocean sounds without the bubbles.

A question did come up during our FL dive, when I loaned a friend my kraken to try.

The young lady who tried my double hose enjoyed diving it a lot, but her mouth is smaller, and she uses a smaller mouthpiece, and she said that she found mine a bit too large for her comfort.

Is the mouthpiece available to fit someone with a smaller mouth?

Well, I've always found that when a young lady tells me this I usually...... Wait a minute. Sorry, wrong forum!

You could use a Hope-Page Mouthpiece but it will probably restrict the flow a tiny bit.

Jim, the "hourglass" mouthpiece that Voit made is a good bit smaller, I prefer it myself but have been using the "official" Kraken one to keep it original. Unless I want to keep the reg "original" for some reason, the Voit is what I normally use on all my DH regs for that very reason, I like a smaller MP. Rob at the Scuba Museum reproduces and sells them in gray and black. They are a direct replacement, all the clamps and internal parts are exactly the same so swapping one out is very easy.

The Hope page has a couple of issues, not the least is finding a good one, many are in poor shape. The biggest issue are the hoses, since it does not use the USD style hoses, finding good replacement hoses is a bit of a challange.

I had no issue with the mouthpiece as it is, but I was trying to answer some questions asked elsewhere. Another question was whether or not the hoses can be made in shorter lengths, but my response was that shortening the hoses much might significantly impact the ability to turn your head left or right.

I would not want them shorter but the answer is yes but there are no good options to do so. To keep them looking the same, you would need to purchase a new mold and then have a run made..not a cheap thing to do but certainly possible. The next not so good option is to cut off the small (can) end and install the hoses, holding them on with wire ties. I have done so in an emergerncy but its not the best idea. My guess is she was having the hoses rub her ears, they do that to me if my tank is not down far enough but on a small person that is sometimes not possible. The solution is smaller tanks. A 63 is shorter and most smaller people can use them with no problems not to mention the reduced weight.
