Margarita's and Kraken's what a combo :D Add a lot of Jimmy Buffet music, sharks to the left of me, sharks to the right. Now we have the correct vision of a Kraken diver waiting on his new Kraken 8)

Wow! They are absolutely stunning! You (and everyone who played a part in the development and testing of the Argonaut) are to be commended! 8)

I can hardly wait.
Was hoping to find a package before the holiday.
Will just have to dive a Phoenix tomorrow.

Maybe a new reg will give me some luck, haven't been finding anything big lately.

Thanks

Father Neptune has blessed this ole diver. Got home this morning and found a wonderful 4th of July and Christmas in July package. The sharks can quit circling because Superlite's Kraken has arrived. Will be putting it through it's paces next trip to Panama City in August. Before that it will be on the offshore platforms (in two weeks).
It is a fantastic looking set up. To all who were involved in its testing and evaluation. You guys did an excellent job!! :D

My one arrived today :)

Many thanks to all concerned in the development of this new regulator.

Anyone else got one in the U.K. or other parts of Europe? Am I the only one?

I have added a digital tank pressure gauge and first thoughts are that the device breathes easy and by the logo on the mouthpiece I guess that on my other twin hose units that I have been putting the new mouthpieces on upside down :)

Only snag I have is the yoke does not go over most of our modern tank valves.

I guess in Europe that we use thicker metal?

Off to Northern Ireland in the morning for a week of diving and assuming they can provide a suitable tank I should be able to give it a try and take some bubble free photos :)

When I get back, I shall try and source the DIN adapter which will also allow me to attach it to my 300 BAR / 4400 PSI tanks thus allowing me to use it worldwide...

Hi,
I was Lucky to dive Eben's Seahunt Argonaut regulator today.
The ease of breathing and over all function was amazing.
A great job by the inventors.

No your metal is not thicker, the valve is thicker because it contains a convertible insert. The standard Argonaut yoke will not fit over "Thermo" DIN convertible valves that have the removable insert unless you thread it all the way out to the circle clip groove. The yoke from a Conshelf/Phoenix will fit both the Argonaut and convertible Thermo valves with a little bit more clearance but not much.

I have quite a few Thermo Pro convertible valves myself and there are a bunch (and clones) in service in Keys dive shops. They are very commonly found in rental service in the US and Caribbean.

Here is a Conshelf yoke on the Argonaut for reference:

And to be clear, I am talking about the 230 Bar stuff, the 300 Bar, I do not see those so much, they could be a problem for a lot of yoke regs in terms of reach.

I tested it on every convertible valve I could find and it fitted, but I guess that was not enough. I only own two types of convertible valves, but I tried it with every valve they have at my LDS.

With the biggest valves I found, you need to retract the yoke a few turns, but it is still fully engaged with the threads. Take a look at the picture below. It is structurally and functionally fine in that position.

The new convertible valves do not meet the yoke interface standard (as shown below), so I had try to measure every valve I could find. I thought I took into account the dimensions of most of the common valves, but I don't have access to European valves. And maybe I missed some in the US as well.

Could it be that he is in the U.K. and the valves are different spec? What I am getting at is when we have a Euro Mistral or in my case a Souplair, we have to have the nozzles turned so they will fit in U.S. valves. Just a thought on half a cup of coffee.....

IIRC, 300 BAR tank valves have a couple more threads than 200 BAR valves. This added length could be the reason why the yoke won't fit.

Those 300 Bar valves are too deep for any yoke adapter. They don't even have a dimple on the back to receive the yoke screw. They can not be used with the doughnut insert adapter. The insert adapter are only designed to be used with the 230 Bar DIN valves.

I hope no one is attempting to use the 300 Bar valves and trying to adapt the adapter doughnut. It doesn't work with any yoke.

That is kind of a different subject. You are referring about vintage regulators that were using an old French (European) yoke standard. As far as I know, it was intended to be compatible with US, but the dimensional tolerances created slight interference.

Modern yoke regulators are sold worldwide and yoke rental tanks are used (or at least available) in most parts of the world.

The new kink is the addition of wider valves to accommodate the DIN standard and then using DIN conversion insert to adapt to a yoke interface.

I have not been able to find a standard that covers this adaptation.

Wow, this scared the poop out of me... I only used my Kraken on a Aqualung Solid Bar "Navy" Single Outlet Doubles valve but have many more tanks.....

I just went and tested some of the convertible valves (230 BAR) in my collection of tanks.

Works: XS Scuba, Dive Rite, Blue Steel (a couple spins out on the yoke were required on some, but it is solid)

Doesn't Work: Scuba Pro ("Italy" stamped), ?????

Others, please post what works and doesn't work. Fortunately, I can switch some valves around from pony tanks to main tanks to make all them work... phew!
