Snubbed Broxton Body

Sun Feb 02, 2014 4:00 pm

I recently acquirred a lot of parts.
Cans, bodies and other goodies.
There is 1 Broxton body that has a snubbed hookah.
I have not been able to find a picture of a Broxton with this Snubbed hookah.
Are they a rare find?
The first picture is what I have been able to find
The second is what I have

There is also an Aqua Master body with the MU stamp and traces of black paint

The Navy never specified hookah ports on their regulators during that time. It is believed that USD simply did not finish the machining process to save $$ on the regulators they were supplying. The body is not super rare and you should be able to find some other posts about it. With the MU stamp on it, it would lead me to think it was at least tested even if it was not used. The fact that it has flat chrome plating would lean towards a training regulator.

Lots of posts this week on similar subjects....When it rains it pours.
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

You say Broxton body, what makes you believe it is a Broxton address body. I wold say it is West Pico Blvd DA Navy body.

Captain,

I'm not sure what reg. it is originally from, just referred to it as a Broxton as it has the Broxton type horseshoe assembly.

I was just wondering how common they are as I have not been able to find any pictures of Broxton or Navy DA regs with a snubbed hookah.
Most pictures I've found show only the bottom can, the few that I found showing the top can have the flat type hookah body.

Thanks
Scott

I have a DA Navy with the stub hookah port. The guy I bought it from said he got it from retired Navy diver. When I got it it had no label and was surprised when I opened it up and found it to be a DA Navy rather then an Aqua Master. I would guess it is from about 1958. The Aqua Master had not been adopted by the Navy when it was first introduced in 1958 because it did not meet the Navy's acceptance test specifications. I think Bryan has the test report somewhere.
Probably USD was already making Aqua Master bodies and just machined some of them for the DA Navy second stage to satisfy the Navy who probably had a large stock of replacement parts for the DA Navy and had not yet accepted the Aqua Master into service. All of this is conjecture on my part as there are no known records but it seems logical.
