Always a pleasure to read a professionally presented and thoroughly researched point of view.

Maybe it's best to go diving, enjoy it for what it is and let others figure it out........

A revised revision to the revision that was revised...

" MODERN LATE MODEL TUBE SUCKING BUBBLE BLOWERS "
Is a all encompassing description of those divers who apparently think they have honored the diving community with their presence, who entered the diving world with great enthusiasm attired with the best and latest factory fresh equipment, largest and gaudiest watch available, *** have a huge spear gun custom made to shoot perch*** or purchase the most expensive complicated underwater camera ever made to document their adventures, never to make a local dive but will spend copious amounts of money to travel to distant locations through out the world to dive. They will contribute nothing, are nothing and will be nothing yet in their sub-consciousness consider themselves the fountain of knowledge who can and will expound indefinitely with great authority on any subject which they have no knowledge or experience and can recall events that never happened, equipment that was never made, places that did not exist and people that never were involved

After a few years of doing as much damage as possible to the sport with in the shortest possible time silently depart with out fan fare for another activity in which to rake havoc upon.

Well, from a different point of view... I made a good living over the years selling them tons of diving equipment!

As Seen Recently:
One diver. One inflator hose. 3 or 4 attachments hanging off said inflator hose including honking, surface signaling claxon, whistles, big red thing, little red thing, medium sized yellow thing - etc.

Diver at 17fsw in 82f water with .250in. Full suit, booties, hood, gloves - arms and legs kicking and flailing to maintain depth - holding her breath, dive jacket fully inflated - swimming 60 to 80 ft with murderous intent in her eyes - trying to reach the DM.

Apparently only the Divemaster was qualified to dump her BCD and disconnect her LP hose to inflator.

Seriously though, I try to smile and go about my carefully circumscribed activities underwater.
I am naturally kind of a short tempered old curmudgeon so I enjoy the opportunities to practice kindness and good cheer - it's counter intuitive

A very good and certainly a valid point-- the modern late model tube sucking bubble blowers dispose of their slightly used equipment at a drastically reduced price adding to the local swap meet & Craig's list, creating a need for the dive industry to operate on a planed obsolesce following in the steps of the auto industry

Need to give this point some serious thought

They have merely created a sub industry. There will always be the "Modern late model tube sucking bubble blowers". But for the divers who push through the BS and continue to dive and don't have a huge budget, there's little guys who buy, restore and sell last years model which enables the divers who actually dive to do so at a reasonable price.
Some dive shops get it. They service their people, old and new. Some don't. They tend not to survive. Of course that's merely my observation being a relative newbie. I've only been certified for 35 years.

STILL MORE.......

" MODERN LATE MODEL TUBE SUCKING BUBBLE BLOWERS "
An all encompassing description of those who enter the world of diving via the cheapest, shortest certification know to man,who apparently think they have honored the diving community with their presence, who entered diving with great enthusiasm attired with the best and latest factory fresh equipment, largest and gaudiest watch available, have a huge spear gun custom made to shoot perch, purchase the most expensive complicated underwater camera ever made to document their adventures, never to make a local dive but will spend copious amounts of money to travel to distant locations through out the world to dive. *** Those who have acquired basic junior high school writing skills attempt to write magazine articles but are rejected therefore feel compelled to write a small paper back pamphlet about their experiences which they self publish and vigorously promote as the if it was the only book ever published on diving.***

They as a group and individually will contribute nothing, are nothing and will be nothing yet in their sub-consciousness consider themselves the fountain of knowledge who can and will expound indefinitely with great authority on any subject which they have no knowledge or experience and can recall events that never happened, equipment that was never made, places that did not exist and people that never were involved
