Cerakoting?

The cans were dropped off as pictured in my first post. Other than removing the label, sticker and regulator body I did nothing more than drop the cans off and picked out the color I wanted the cans to be at the end.

How much? They certainly look impressive with that matt finish on the cans.

I could care less about offending anyone. I was simply insuring that I was not bombarded with 1000000000 requests to join the forum by non divers that simply want to run their pie hole about this weapon or that weapon.....I would do the same if the post was about bikes, boats, cars or anything else that folks like to take a stance on and pontificate using my resources.

As of now the cans are doing well. I have dove them a couple of times, post-coating, in the apartment pool and they show no wear. The guys did warm me that the satin alum would show scratches more readily than some of the darker coatings but I have not seen this as of yet. The guys at the shop are OCD perfectionists to the point where they will turn down projects if they feel that the product would not resulting in ideal conditions. I am completely satisfied with their product.I do like the matte look but there is something about the chrome look that you just can't beat. they can gloss the coating but I haven't delved too deeply into that. I can't quote a price because I do lot of weapon related business with these guys and I'm sure they cut me a break. That being said, it wasn't costly at all and I am debating having them coat my Navy Approved.

I'm a firearms fanatic as many of you know but this is Vintage Double Hose....Please, no more posting or discussion of firearms PERIOD. There are plenty of places to discuss the subject but VDH is not one of them. The subject attracts more douchbags than a sports bar on game day.

It is very interesting to see that this process could replace chrome, and I've never imagine that this Duracoat or other Cerakote could be used on regulators. Do you have test it in salt water?

Any idea of success with minor pits or etching on the receiving body?

I believe it is a military approved finish for firearms and other items. The new Colt 1911 the Marine Corp purchased is Cerakoted.

I've had really good results regarding covering up pitting and etching/scratching in the material and smoothing out the edges on rough cans. The DA that I submitted to Area-15 was heavily pitted and very rough around the edges, especially around the area where the clamps had to be pried off. The result, after coating was a perfectly sealed can. I asked them to leave the cans a little rough, to show age, even though they said they could do a dual application and make the cans as smooth as when the were first sold.
