A new tool for your DH regs

Fri Jul 20, 2012 11:47 am

While fighting (and buggering up a nozzle) with standard wrenches on an old Dacor that was totally stuck it occured to me that I needed a new tool. One that could remove the HP nozzles of DH regs without damaging them. So after a little playing around this is what I came up with. This is the prototype, I think I am going to make the bar out of stainless, it's not that much more expensive and sure looks better. What you guys think? And in case you are wondering, no this one will not work on Dacors. Their yokes are way to narrow for any socket....I have a wrench for those in mind too. :)

The tool installed in an old DA with a short yoke. Notice that you can screw the yoke screw down onto it to prevent the nut from riding up.

The 2 parts of the tool, the bar will be SS on the production model.

The back side of the pull bar is extended so you can use 2 hands and a wrench on those really stuck ones.

Very simple design. It should also work on the older aqualung 1st stages that use the nut to hold down the yoke.

It should work with most anything that uses a 1 in yoke nut. The one exception I know of are the Dacor DH regs, their yoke is very narrow with no room at all for a socket.

Looks like another great tool from Herman the Tool Guy! I appreciate all your contributions to making life easier when working on regs. :D
The older I get the better I was.
