I would also like to point out that I now have TWO offensive quotes in other divers' signature lines. 8)

Thanks for the warm welcome all.

My West Warner Ave Mistral has been rebuilt with parts from Bryan and seems to be in good working order. I need to wait a while before I can test it anywhere besides the bath tub though, as I am not going to get very far with just a regulator attached to a tank.

Looks like I'll be able to head down to the Florida Keys to do my check out dives. I am going to try to do it next week or so. Anyone have any recommendations for a dive shop to do it with?

Are you doing your checkout dives in modern kit or old stuff? Also, once you get your card let me know when you are going to be around Florida again. I'll gladly go diving with you, and I have plenty of gear to share. Plus, I'm a dive medic. We can go drinking and then give ourselves IVs :)

I was planning on doing my checkout dives in whatever gear they give me at the dive shop. I'll bring my Mistral, but don't plan on using on my checkout dives. Unless someone has a suggestion I am just going to pick a shop at random.

Oddly, the sole reason I will be in Florida is because I will have a couch to crash on, and due to little else beyond the fact that the water there has no ice floating on top. I work for a major airline and get to fly standby, so travel is easy, but finding places to sleep is less easy.

The offer of diving in a warm place and hangover free drinking is too good to pass up. Can you mix a mojito?

Can I mix a Mojito? Indeed. Once you get your C-card, figure out your buoyancy, and take off all that extra lead that your instructor will heap upon you, we shall drink, dive, and rehydrate...sometimes in that order. Also, once I deduce that you will not wear my face as a mask at some point, I have plenty of extra rooms for divers 8)

Fourthirteen:

I'd stay away from phrases like: "It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again". Until you get to know him at least....then all bets are off.

I like this lady...I'm going to have to plan a visit to the museum. Maybe I can abduct you for some diving. Anna and I do enjoy diving Pepper Park and such when the weather cooperates.

He must be pretty desperate for dive buddies if the only requisite is that I not go totally Buffalo Bill on him.

I am thinking it would be fun to stop by the UDT/SEAL museum while in Florida. How much time should one budget to see all the sites?
