Karl,

I know that you have an awesome collection, but that is an amazing addition. Now, if we can just find some mines with magnetic triggers to test it on...

Congrats!

I am without words.....  Not even in pictures have I seen one that nice. It looks like it was put away and never used. I never knew a curved mouthpiece without a USD or Voit logo actually existed till now. I just made them for divers to put on non USD regulators...Congratulations on adding a crown jewel to your collection!

None of you really want to know what the buy-it-now price was. Some things throughout life get Karled, if you know what I mean.

Congratulation on an incredible find! Is it the centerpiece of your collection or is there something even more rare and historical?

BioSystems was trying to meet the non magnetic requirements by the Navy that USD was failing to meet according to the info we have. It became cost prohibitive and they gave up I think. Plus you could buy 1/2 dozen NICE USD Non Magnetics and still not reach the price that Karls BioSystems will bring. There were only 52 of them made so how rare does that make it in the double hose spectrum?? How many still existent? And to narrow it down even further how many still exist in the condition of Karls? In the last 6 or 7 years I have worked on or bought and sold dozens of USD Non Magnetics but I have never see a biosystems in the flesh...I do have the body from one though  so I guess that makes at least 51 of them that could be complete but I'll bet the Navy destroyed or parted out the vast majority of the ones that were in use.

Hopefully Karl will take a lot of pictures and we can put in in the main page regulator ID section.

I've well understand that telling that this regulator is rare is an euphemism!
I've a friend who have bought years ago an ERDL experimental jungle jacket modified by the Natick Laboratory to carry M16 magazines and with an inflatable life vest system inside. The Natick product around 300 of these sets and they where tests on the field in Vietnam by Seal members. This is a kind of rarity item that I will very happy to possess! So I really understand the joy and proud of Karl to have find this rare piece of history!

I was sitting in front of the computer and searching Ebay when I saw this auction and price of $5.00 starting bid. I then looked at sellers other auctions and he had some with a buy it now option. I emailed him and asked if there was a buy it now price on this? He emailed me back about 45 minutes later and he added a buy it now of $89.00. After regaining consciousness from falling out of the chair, I bought it.
It has a couple of dings and 1 dent but looks great otherwise. Thanks for the info, Bryan. I did not know there were so few of these. There is a # 3 on the yoke.

I was made aware of the deal prior to Karl receiving the package, and was very much looking forward to the first images. I am thrilled that Karl obtained the reg, as he is one of the most devoted collectors out there. Not to mention as what a great guy he is.

I would be surprised if there are more than a dozen examples still in existance. Too, I wouldn't doubt if this particular one isn't in the finest condition. With that thought in mind, the reg could easily be worth more than $4,000 to the earnest collector.

Karl, to say that you made one of the deals of a lifetime would be an understatement.

Now, how about some more pictures?
