Quick update, Released to begin physical therapy for one month and tentatively no work unless very light duty. Bone healing is ggod. Six weeks before i can begin swimming and then maybe return to a diving format after 4-5 month layoff. Thanks for the picture Karl. It helps to look at this one and know that i will be able to carry that little 44 on my back again soon.
First dives? 1967 and I never lost the fever.

Hi Robo,
I am sorry to hear about your misfortune. I have not been checking the forum because I have been busy building a bonus room in our house.
I wish you the best of luck recovering and am looking forward to diving with you soon.

Sounds like you are doing very well Roger, keep up the good work.

Oh, the going back to work part, I just returned to work after, what, nine weeks, lost track. They put me on half days for another two weeks. Oh well, I did not argue, I can entertain myself. Work, yuk  .

Roger, don't do anything you are not supposed to before you are supposed to  .

Glad to hear that you are both getting better. You'll be diving again before too long. 8)

Thanks to all for the warm wishes and advise. I am very slowly on the mend. My PT masters tell me I am too anxious. they keep reminding me that I had not only another hip replacement but also a broken femur in order to make the whole thing work. So Nem you are absolutely on the mark. Take it slow and listen to the advise. thanks again to all. I was hoping to travle south in December but my son will be "graduating" in Mid December from basic at Fort Leonard Wood so i will be going to the middle of the Ozarks just before Christmas. Thanks again to all.

It has been a long road just as Nemrod can tell you also. I went back to the surgeon Monday and he released me to start diving after the first of the year. If all goes right and I can get South I will be diving the springs on Presidents Day weekend. I was back in the pool today for the first time to swim and it felt GREAT. I plan on some pool dives prior to going to see how things shape up. This new titanium rod and hip weigh a total of 16 lbs. Maybe I can dump a few lbs of lead!

Merry Christmas and God Bless Everyone on the Forum. Pray for our Troops that they have a safe Holiday and can return to their Families in short order. Safe Diving to all and to all a Good Night. :D

Wow, great news for you that the doc will clear you to dive soon, great :D

Me, not so lucky, I am going backwards. I will not be diving for a long time, especially if it involves any walking. Despite photos showing me on a bicycle, which I can in fact ride, I have a bad limp, a lot of pain, cannot walk up stairs or down them, cannot walk with a tank on my back without my leg giving way, it is very weak and unlike on a bicycle, when walking, the leg must carry the full weight.

So, anyways, maybe I will catch up with y'all in 2012.

I am contented and wish a happy and safe new year and most excellent Christmas to all you vintage equipment crazies  .

Sorry your recovery is slow Nem. At least you can ride, that's something. I hope all goes well in the new year. That's great that your being cleared Roger! Do as I say and not as I do. Take it easy at first. ha. merry Christmas to all.

James, that is the pits that yours is not going well. I am still doing Physical therapy and after the new year I have 20 more visits I can use and plan on using every one of them. I too have a limp but it is caused by the extra inch in leg length from the new prothesis!. My left butt muscles are really atrophied and are causing the limp but each day I have to do specific exercises. Keep up the faith Nem as it was your communications to me that really helped me in my down time. I will stay in touch and hope for your continued return to H20. Happy New Year to you. RobohipsX3.
