Bryan,
I believe that it relates to both, but the single hose section might be the best choice.

For future refernce if you do need some parts made I would be happy to help out. Plus minus 2 tenths is my tol limit on lathe parts or a half tenth on milled which is well within your needs. Just throwing it out. What you're doing sounds like a sh@#load of fun.Greg Barlow wrote:I have recently completed a series of experiments using the newly developed Mares "tri-material" HP valves in vintage Voit/Swimaster regs. These new poppets have worked extremely well in my modern regs, so I decided to try them in a couple of my vintage Voit models.
Like the Phoenix conversions, the length of the poppet pin is an issue. The original Voit pins are too short for the new Mares valve. The length is the only dimension that is different. I have created a couple of pins from stainless steel nails, but it took a loooong time to make them.
I would like to get an idea as to the cost of having a dozen or so produced. If anyone has some information, please let me know.
These are the specs that I am planning on using:
Type 303 alloy with a #4 (satin) finish after machining
Rod stock of 0.094" diameter +- 0.002"
Dimensions:
OAL 0.632" +- 0.002"
Head diameter 0.092" +- 0.002"
Head thickness 0.060" +- 0.004"
Stem diameter 0.057" +- 0.001"
Any help in this project would be greatly appreciated. This is the final step in my work bringing the vintage Voit regs up to modern standards. So far, I have obtained silicone second stage diaphragms, exhaust valves, and Viton brand O-rings of 75 durometer for dynamic use, and 90 durometer for static applications. After having these poppet pins produced, I would like to run one of the regs on an ANSTI simulator with the improvements, and without, to add scientific documentation to the differences. Some work that I did years back showed a significant decrease in inhalation effort using silicone second stage diaphragms versus the rubberized fabric versions.
More projects on the horizon....
Thanks.
Greg
