Rare Spearguns I have now

Hi guys. I just added some of my rare Spearguns to my Album here for everyone to see. I have a 1000 psi "Barracuda" Speargun, a French "Hurricane" Speargun, very good because of it's original rubber slings with the name Hurricane on them and last but the bestest speargun, the newest vintage diving item I have just gotten, the rare Nemrod "Crusero" Speargun. I am especially happy to Finally get this speargun that I have been trying to find for such a very long time. It is neat because of it's "Super-Charger Pump" it has on the rear, on top of the air/oil chamber. The supercharger pump Handle is kept Forward, as in the picture, untill the spear shaft is Loaded and then it is Pulled-Back to the Rear, to lay flat on top of the Balance Bar and this adds about 30% of additional Fireing Force. Hi Jess Hey, "Thank you" for setting up a link to the Picture Gallery. That will make things Extra Easy to see now. I just wish I had Shaved before Cyndy took the pictures though, ha, ha. I cut my long sideburns down to just about normal now too, so it looks a little better, ha, ha. I look werid enough without adding to it. ( I have the Speargun mounted on the wall now and it really looks better when mounted like that.) William

Hi Jim & "Thank you". But I will have to restrict my spearfishing to just Big Catfish from now on, ha, ha. Anyway, they too taste Great, as long as they have the Thin Layer of Red Meat down their sides sliced of before prepareing and Cooking. That layer of red meat is not good tasteing at all and should always be removed and also done to Amberjack too before cooking. You would be amazed at how much better the Flavor is when this is done. Cooking Correctly is also Super Important. If Fish is Overcooked even a little bit , then that will ruin an otherwise Tasty meal. Take good care. William

There is a local shop here that has (what I believe to be) a Crusero still in the box, and one wall hanging in his shop. It drives me nuts. He has a collection of the most fantastic "stuff" you can imagine, like piles of old tanks that are unique, and some I have never seen. at least 30 doubles in every configuration, guages spearguns...on and on and on. He keeps them in his back room at the shop, and is happy to show anyone that wants to see them. I keep asking him to part with some things, and he just grins at me, and acts like it's just some old junk. Last time I was there, I showed him one of my redone doubles, and he asked where I got all the new parts. I gave him the info, and he showed me a pile of boxes from a shop in Mass. that he bought out. All of them were filled with antique parts, all new stock. He has had them for years and never got around to sorting them out. One pretty neet item is an original draft drawing of a USD J valve given to him by an employee of the company years ago. He has it framed, but just sitting on the floor. I wish he would open a little museam to show his collection. The shop is Sea Wolf II here in Ct. If any of you are in the area, just ask to see his collection in the back room. You'll loose sleep over it!

Ha, ha. I bet the gentleman will be getting some friendly visits and calls too from the vintage diving collectors. I sure would like to have the Speargun that is New in the box. "If he decides to sell anything please let us all know". >>>--> I finally got my Nemrod "Crusero" Speargun mounted on my Living Room Wall. It looks so nice there and draws everyone's attention right Quickly too, ha, ha. I just got very Lucky in finding her and No-One would ever guess where I got her. The fellow does not have a good reputation, but he, Really & Seriously, is just like any of us and is a Super Nice new friend. My Nemrod Speargun is also called the ("Elephant Gun") of the Spearfishing World. Having over 620 psi Fireing Force is pretty good for big fish, I would imagine, but only the Oldest & Bravest Vintage Divers who got out there in the areas of those Huge Fish in California, would know for sure. I spent a year in Connecticut when I was in the Navy. There used to be (don't know if it's still there) a dive shop right outside the submarine base in Groton. Can't even remember the shop's name now (that was about 24 years ago).
One day they had an "attic" sale, and had several NIB Dacor R-4 regs on the sale table. Still in their original boxes with warranty cards. They wanted $50 each for them
I bought one, but wish now I'd bought one or two more. Oh well. Tried it out on a beach dive up there, but it didn't breathe very well. Not surprising since it had sat on a shelf for 20+ years even then. Still have it after all this time, although sadly I threw the box and warranty card away when I got it.
But back in '83 who knew people would be going crazy over the things 25 years later? There's a pic of the Dacor in my gallery. I guess I need to send it to Bryan to finally get serviced..

That shop is no longer there. I was a haz mat tech before I went back to being a builder, and did a LOT of work at the base. Over the years there were several shops that poped up, and went just as quickly near the base. Typical of a military town I guess.

I had one of my nicer Dacor "Dial-A-Breath" Regulators rebuilt by ( Dacor Jerry ) . It took Jerry a long time to get it done and he also had others help out on what to do to improve it as much as possible, but when I got her back, it Honestly Breathed 10 times Better than it originally did. It was >>-> Amazeing how much better Jerry made it for me. The Dial-A-Breath adjustment function still works perfectly, but it seemed to breath almost as well as my vintage Mistral Regulator does. You might give Jerry an email and ask about yours too. I just added a few more Speargun Pictures of my Nemrod "Crusero" Speargun to my Album for all to see. I have it mounted and also pictures of it in it's { Fireing Position } It looked Very Different when Cocked for Fireing like that. William

That is one CRAZY lookin spear gun. How do you not take that baby out for a little hunt? I have NO self control, so it's best that I don't collect nice things like that.

Well, "I think you are Right, really". That would be great fun to dive with her and even do some underwater testing of it. But so far, I have so little information about the operation and all, to even use it, except for one small Nemrod factory brochure. I will have to get more information before I can even Charge-Up the Air/Oil Chamber. If anyone has an Operation,Maintenance Manuel I sure could use a Copy of it. William
