Just scored a nearly ew DAAM off ebay for 35 bux in a buy it now. The hoses are broken, but the body and cans look immaculate. I could believe my eyes when i saw a buy it now for 35 buckazoid.

I just got the new DAAm in today. as i said earlier, the hoses were not gtreat. I took off one side of the hoses and it is stamped into the horn Made in France.

The serial number is 900421, and the label with the exception of a tiny spot is clean.

This does not look as if it has been used.. Other than some wear that looks like shelf type of wear, it looks pretty nice. The finish is matte.

I will be taking it apart today and give it a good soak. Pix to follow.

Update on the DAAM.

Interesting hose protector. These are little tabs that are placed on the house (mouthpiece end) where the clamps tend to join. This would give even pressure to the clamp and avoid pinching the hose. They appear to be made of copper.

The inside of the reg is remarkably clean, had some dust, some fine grit of sorts, dont know what it was, but otherwise I would tend to douibt if it has been used once or twice if at all.

The body retaining ring is minty, and no one has had it apart.

Now off to the soaking machine to clean. oh yes the duckbill is same old as the regular one.

Now to put that new body wrench to good use. it makes the job so much easier when you have the right tools.

The duckbill was brittle but the horn area is stcuk with this old rubber that does not want to come out. any suggestions?

Nozzle is in almost new shape. its really a sweet little reg.

MEK will remove the duckbill very quickly! Use it in a well ventilated area as it is NASTY stuff.

The little copper shims are pretty common in some years but I have no idea when they started and stopped with them.

forgive my ignorance, but i have never head of MEk . What is it other than a duckbill remover..what is it normally used for?

Methyl Ethyl Ketone, thinner/solvent. Should be able to get it at any hardware store or the Home Depot, Lowes etc. It will eat up old rubber in a hurry. Won't bother the chrome but keep it away from your label. USE IT OUTSIDE PLEASE!!!

Sounds like you got one of the earliest Delhi regulators which were made in France. I don't know how rare that one is, but most, if not all, of the ones I've seen are shiny chrome.
Would you mind if I ask some questions about it? I log information based on serial number so I can get a good data base for future reference.
1) On which horn is it stamped "Made In France" (inhale or exhale)?
2) Long yoke or short (should be short)?
3) Is the yoke scew the older "wing" type with the oval shaped ends, or the cast "U.S. Divers Co"/"Aqua-Lung" with squared ends?

That serial number is not high. I believe the French-made Delhi serial numbers started at 900000. If so, your reg is #421 of those made in France. Pretty early, as stated above.

One more question, though I think you would have mentioned it:
4) Is there a "Made In France" sticker on the bottom box just below the ID plate?

I take that back. Delhi regs go either way, and I'm not sure why. Yours is the first early one I've heard of as being matte. Then they went shiny, and then later they went back to matte again as far as the data I have logged indicates. One of those mysteries. I don't have a lot logged for them to really say that there was this specific pattern They may have done both finishes concurrently for all I know.
