V66 Navy Voit

Tue Dec 03, 2013 10:00 pm

I am rebuilding a V66 Navy Voit. It came with black hoses which seem to be original and gray mouthpiece. Does anyone know if this should have gray hoses instead of black.?

Answer from the Regulator Identification Guide on the main page of the website, Voit section.

V66 Navy: (cataloged 1962-1964) Model was identical mechanically to a US Divers DA Aqua-Master. It was produced with grey hoses, “hourglass” mouthpiece, and nylon hose clamps. Examples exist that have both box assemblies finished in shiny chrome, and some in the traditional satin/shiny combination. A clamp ring assembly was used to connect the top and bottom boxes on some examples, with box clips also encountered. The box clips version appears to be the most common. According to one Voit service manual, the earliest versions used the ring clamp system. This is most likely correct, as only the 1962 catalog illustrates a ring clamp as a standard feature. Two different color combinations on the identification plates were used on the V66. Regulators produced in France have black and gold labels, and the ones produced in the USA have blue and gold

Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

After seeing Surflung's Navy Voit, I guess I'll go with gray hoses.

Mine, full grey kit, hoses, valves, diaphragm (HPR conversion).

I may install my new Cyclone first stage in this one, not sure yet. I was using it as a Phoenix, I think I dove it some as a Phoenix (pre-HPR) in the Bahamas but it has since been returned to standard first stage with HPR. Sorry purists, the HPR is just too good and it has a DBEV too.

Sorry V66, this is my best breathing and favorite regulator, also an HPR with DBEV and secret sauce:

I have forgiven it a long time ago for having tried to kill me.
