Dacor double hose regs

Mon Mar 19, 2012 7:41 am

I was recently looking over the manuals for Dacor double hose regs, I have one to restore and I noticed a reference to a IP gauge/adapter called a "PSGA". I assume this is some form of adapter that was used with a Dacor IP gauge. Does anyone have any information on that gauge/adapter - photos, description, anything. I am going to need one to service my Dacor and also thought it might be another tool I could make if any of you have an interest in one. If I can find enough info to make them, are there Dacor DH owners who would like one?

Is this something that would work on my C-3 and R-4? If thats the case, put me down for one Herman. Thanks!

Somebody just paid over $500 for a boat load of Dacor parts on ebay. Hopefully the person is a member of the forum and may have the ip adaptor... :?:

Adair,
I got your email, thank you. At this time, I don't need any parts but I will keep you in mind. What I need is a manual on the "Dial-A-Breath" and some (any) information on the piece of test equipment Dacor called a PSGA (pressure setting gauge adapter I think). I have an idea of what it might have looked like but it would be helpful to see one. I am considering adding them to my line of tools.

I have the R-4/C-3 manuals and from what I can tell, they are pretty much the same, at least in the internal area. I am thinking the R-4 is pretty much a DAB without the knob, I will know for sure when I tear it apart. I shot Dan an email, lets see what he has to say. The big thing I am looking for is a photo of the IP guage adapter.

Herman, you won't need a photo of the PSGA when you tear down your Dacor and see how the second stage attaches and seals. The Dacor test gauge has to be manually held in place against the pressure. You can build a better one. I'd go for a flange on the adapter that utilizes the threaded holes that hold the 2nd stage in place.
The older I get the better I was.

I'm thinking more than that. I plan on a vent valve so you can cycle the HP stage and an OPV. I do not like the idea of having a gauge that I am looking at having the possibility of it being subjected to HP that can not vent in some other way than blowing up in my face...which may be one of the reasons they did not add screw holes to the original one...
I launched the face of one of those small pony bottle HP gauges across the room one day so I am a little gun shy, just glad I was not looking at it at the time....and it was rated for 4K. Still, I would like to see one, if for no other reason than having seen one.

Herman,

In making this tool, would it help you in any way have a Dacor reg for parts? I have an old Dacor that does not have any internals or a 1st stage. If it would help you make a die or something, let me know, and it's yours.

I have one to restore so I can use it. At a minumum I would need enough parts to make a functioning first stage but thanks for the offer.
