vintagemike, hello, what you have to do is use a three way spliiter. These used to be very common. Mounting this to the end of the LP adapter gives you three LP ports. Because it is a swivel it turns where you need it. I have my BC inflator in one side port, the octapus in the other side port and the end port plugged. This allows me to route my octapus under my arm and bungee to my neck. I also use a ball swivel on the second stage of the octapus so it can easily align with the user. This puts the LP inflator hose is a low loop just behind my head and going back over the RH shoulder. It actually works very well.
The adapters show up on Bryan's site or Dan's sometimes and on ebay and I think they are still being made, perhaps DiveRite etc. There are also 90 degree HP swivel adapters. These have the larger threading so you have to put a 7/16 to 3/8 type adapter. these adapters often have a restrictor orifice because they were intended for use on an SPG. Drill that orfice to a larger size to prevent a breathing restriction at low tank pressure--trust me on that! Anyway, the HP 90 degree swivel will allow you to route your octapus under your left arm nicely.

hooka low pressure port

Fri Dec 16, 2005 4:02 pm

dear james, thanks a bunch for that info! i was mainly thinking of a low pressure hookup for my drysuit but that three way would be a bonus. i was diving with a mistral, in a drysuit and received one heck of a squeeze only diving to 35 to 40 feet, so i want to get my golden royal aquamaster setup for lowpressure attachments.

You are going to have to add a 3/8" ID (or 7/16", I cant remember which one fits better) metal or plastic washer between the fitting and Bryan's hookah adapter. The washer will keep the barrel of the fitting from sliding over Bryan's adapter.

The hookah adapter is narrow and has nothing to stop the barrel of these fittings.

I use a plastic washer from a local hardware store.

The O-ring shown in this pictures doesn't do anything with the hookah adapter. This fittings will seal with the small O-ring that Bryan provides that goes inside the 3/8" threaded opening.

I used this adapter with Bryan's on my Royal. I then attached an inflator hose with a Scubapro female fitting for an AIR2. That way I can have both an inflator for my Seatec BC and an alternate air source so that the dive operators can not complain. Lastly, a Chucko banjo and I have all the necessary goodies to fulfill my modern diving requirements with a double hose regulator.

scuba.com also has the 3 way port ....for about 15 or 16 dollars.

I'm having a shorter adapter made, that resembles the 9/16 nut that comes on the hookport, but is larger 3/4 outside dim's and tall enough (more metal) for a 3/8th female hole for the 3way, to be drilled in the top end.

This solves the problem Luis spoke of about using a flat plastic washer also, since the 3 way will bottom out against the new adapter. And also gets away from the ball and socket of the hooka port design.

The inside has a flat teflon washer that the end of the hooka port will mash into for sealing. Similar to the original 9/16th hook nut.

I wanted a shorter adapter so my 3 way has more room to swivel next to the manifold when using my twin tanks. I also just don't like the thing hanging out in the breeze so to speak and possibly getting damaged by entering a wreck or other submerged structure and this adapter pulls the 3 way in a bit. I call it my system 2.

My first system, created by my retired machinest friend, (every diver should have one) was a shorter version of the adapter Bryan sells but was still too long for my tastes and the 3 way still rubbed against my twin manifolds.

I should have the prototype sometime this month........I hope....he is retired he keeps reminding me.

Mossback, please post a pic or a drawing of your design.
I have been fooling around with one made from AN fittings but so far it has not been any better than one is currently available.

Well, I tried to attach a rough sketch of the hooka port adapter nut but my setup won't transfer to this forum......pixels are way too big......not to up on transfering drawings..........dragging and pasting is out too.....

Bryan, if I emailed the drawing to you, can you reduce the thing and post it here?

I received my prototype this evening. Slapped it on to my RAM to check if it leaked.........worked perfectly........needed some finishing touches,,,,,,excess length trimed off and threads on 9/16 end deeped.....but looked real good......

Changes include neophreme washer vs teflon.......large massive size made it fit into and part of the reg. 3 port bottomed out against the end as planned........eliminating the washer Luis suggested using on the older style version. It also cleared the twin manifold on my twin 45's, which are bigger than the twin 38's

Planning on going to Port Aransas next week for some much needed rest and some fishing, and, if my cold is gone and the weather and wind cooporate, a dive in Matagora Bay. Intend to use this set up........

If all goes well, will have some photos soon............

Our very own Captain has made a very nice hooka adapter with a 90 degree bend.

Maybe he can post some details and a picture of his design.
