DA Aquamaster minus the horseshoe lever

I think Luis was discussing replacing the horseshoe lever in a DA to be rid of having the tabs on the diaphragm. I think I might work something up like that soon. It turns out my Titan conversion assemblies fit the thread on the DA.


Those pics really show how bad someone went to town on that Aquamaster body. There were lots of nicks in the starting threads. I got it with half of a can and some assorted parts.

Interesting, I tried screwing a Voit Trieste second stage on a DA Aqua Master body and it wouldn’t screw in. It looked like the threads were a different pitch. I didn’t measure the thread pitch, but holding them side by side they looked different.

I only know of one size threads used by USD on their second stages. It seems that Voit must have switched threads at some point.

Can you have some more of those second stage bodies made?

Actually, now that I've messed with the assemblies a little more, it does look like the threads are slightly different. The DA assembly will not screw in very deep into the Voit body. So, while the setup I showed would work, it's not optimal by any means.

The only issue I have is securing the assembly from moving. I'm still thinking about how to do that without altering the original DA body.

The machine shop I used to make the parts still has the CNC programs for the lathe and mill. It should be hard at all to have them altered and a new batch made.

The seat holder could be drilled along with the old horseshoe support screws to accept safety wire to hold it in place. Or the seat holder could be machined out of hex stock of the same size as the USD part and then could be held in place with the horseshoe supports just as the USD part is.
