USD Solid Manifold question

Fri May 01, 2015 9:13 pm

Hey all,

Which tanks fit on a USD solid manifold?

Are they only made for a 6.9 diameter tank or can a 7in diameter tank work?

They are 8.5 in. center post to center post. I have a USD solid bar on a set of HP 40 cu.ft doubles (5.5 in. Diameter). A friend of mine has the same manifold on a set of 120 cu. ft. tanks and I believe the are more than 8 in. Diameter and it fits fine. In other words, as long as 1/2 the diameter of each tank does not exceed 4 inches you should be fine. That leaves a half inch for band bolts. Mark

Hi, I have a USD Solid Bar that needs repair. It leaks air out the reserve and the main valve. Is this something I should have repaired or can I do the work myself and does Bryan have the parts.

I own three USD solid bar manifolds, and all three have a center to center spacing of 8.25". How are you measuring yours?

I was drinking beer while working on life-support equipment while simultaneously typing a forum response. You know, the usual. I stand corrected. 8.25 is accurate. Mark

I believe Bryan at VDH or Rob at The Scuba Museum will have parts. The main valve is fairly straight forward to fix, mainly new seals (o-rings) and nylon washers. The reserve probably need a new reserve spring and reserve seat as well as the above. If you have already done a repair on a J valve the repair will pretty much be the same on the bar manifold. Sorry for the late reply.
