Vintage diving 3 sisters

Tue Dec 30, 2014 4:14 pm

Hey guys, I'm new to the site. Last year Bryan rebuilt my dad's DA Aquamaster reg that he had purchased new in 1960. I played with this reg out in the garage in the 1960's and 70's when I was a kid. I never dove with it until this past year though. One of my buddies from work has been diving double hose regs sense the late '50s and is still diving with a Mistral that he was given in 1958 for his 11th birthday. Anyway, here we are diving the Three Sisters with vintage equipment that has been in our families for over 50 years! Enjoy!

Great 1st post! SURPRISE ENDING.... Thank you for sharing with us.
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

How come the only thing we saw in 3 Sisters was a manatee....I got jipped. :)

Welcome to the board, there are several other DH divers in NC, I am in Apex, Henry is in Goldsboro and I am aware of 3 others. We need to set up a vintage meet up at the Rolesville Quarry this summer.

Hey Herman, I'm in for coming up and diving with you in the quarry. I work a week on week off schedule so I will need to coordinate schedules. Also, if I'm off I can come up on week days. How's your water temperature in late spring?

If my ex wife saw the end of the video..... and I was still married to her.... I would never get to go diving ever again!!! But seriously, I enjoyed the video. Not just the end. LOL

Depends on when but it is around the high 40's now but ends up at almost 85 by mid Sept. It's usually wetsuit temp by mid to late April. We can work on a schedule off line, shoot me a PM and I will give you my email and phone.

Hi Aquanutt,

Welcome to VDH. Thanks for sharing the vid as it brings back nice memories-I haven't dove Three Sisters or Crystal River for that matter, since the late 80ies. The manatee are looking much healthier than I remember; perhaps it's time for another visit.

A sincere THANK YOU to all at VDH who make this wonderful resource available and to all the thoughtful contributors.

Hey guys -

Count me in this summer when you're ready to do a dive at the Rolesville Quarry this summer - I'm always up for a short road trip!
