Essgee : Early Christmas Present

Shouted myself an early Christmas present. a Siebe Gorman Essgee Mistral, complete setup.
Fresh from a forgotten corner of a back shead.

Wow! That's a FIND! Nice round bottoms on those tanks! Looks like a unique harness, too.

Absolutely. once i recover from the usual Christmas over indulgence, i will break it down for a clean up and take more photos as i go.

I haven't seen a crossover yoke like that... it appear to have a reserve valve built in.

The tanks look like the ones in my "upside-down" SG set, having the banded neck for the date and pressure ratings, and maybe the unusual old British highly tapered threads.

The regulator with all the correct fitting is a nice find too.

Well i have just started to pull things apart so here are a few more pics:
First off the cross over:


The crossover has SG 140 stamped into the top of the post,

has the same yoke as the essgee reg

and has the same HP take off as the reg. the post has a clear plastic washer instead of an Oring.

antique diver, yes it does have the reserve built in. to arm the reserve (start dive) you have to push the leaver in against spring pressure then turn. To Turn the reserve on you have to give it a hefty tug, and instead of a rod it has a string that routes through tunnels on the bands.

Here's an SG gauge that fits the mid-1950's regs & valves. Their submersible gauge may predate any other major SCUBA manufacturer, at least in the US.

Thanks for sharing those very cool clips Steve, it is interesting how they set up their hose orientation on the Siebe Gorman regs with the elbows. Also thanks for your comments on my post about the Porpoise. Unfortunately i haven't been very active here lately last year was a tough one as the company i worked for was in big trouble culminating in them folding just before christmas. so at the moment all my gear is in storage until i manage to find another job and get back on my feet, hopefully soon.
regulatorbj i will get those test dates and serials when i can.
