Fin Discoloration

Thu Dec 06, 2012 3:54 pm

I have a pair of Voit Duck Feet fins that have been in storage for a couple of years, in a large plastic container. They have a brownish discoloration that has a rough surface to it. I tried to wash it off with mild detergent but no go. They have only been used in fresh water and the dive shop pool. Could chlorine cause this? I am careful to rinse my gear after each use. I have a pair of Aqualung Rocket fins that were in the same container with no signs of discoloration. Any ideas?

Thanks,
John

I've seen this happen when rubber comes into long term contact with other surfaces. Is it in an area that was resting against the container?
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB
