The Phoenix Rose Again

Sat Nov 03, 2012 10:22 pm

I have had my Phoenix since early on have regularly enjoyed it. By BC was never the ideal home for a double hose and some changes over the years made it even less ideal. This season the Phoenix didn’t see a lot of action, I just wasn't feeling the love. The duckbill eliminator and HPR second stage were nice enhancements but they didn’t change my fundamentals. I finally sucked it up and decided to do it right. I got the VDH back plate and rigged a harness to meet the needs of the regulator and myself. At the same time I added the new supple diaphragm. Yesterday I got to make a few dives with this latest configuration and it was like falling in love all over again. Nothing like going back to basics!

Thanks to everyone that has worked to make these goodies available!

Pete

I am glad you are enjoying it again.

As I mentioned once before, one of the biggest performance improvement I have made to my DH was not to the regulator, but by reintroducing a redesigned vintage plate.
