You can find them in rag-fair all Europen cities and if you make bargain you buy them cheaper easy.

Honestly saying I feel more confident with my vintage equipments than Russian’s :)

First Russian diving club in Sochi city (on the Black Sea ) I was help them many times for repair water cooled army compressor and the other equipments when I go there.

There is only one interesting diving place a sunken war plane at 18 metres but the water everytime dirty unvisible .
Sochi 140 miles opposite of my town in Black Sea.
15 years ago first German divers group came to Sochi diving club. I was there and German divers afraid when they saw the equipments :shock:
Next day ,they said forgat to bring the boat BC's .. Club president said No ! we donn’t use BC :lol:
I never forget this memory and I run to captain's cabin for laugh :D
However after diving at night time everybody was very happy :)

Little off topic, and not the first time it’s been said, but I LOVE how far-flung and diverse this group is! Very very cool.

As I see you are from Turkey, Trapezus, I feel moved to say that if for some reason the flood waters were approaching my house one day, 1 of only 4 items of furniture I think I would be sure to take is a 5’x9’ Kurdish rug I bought In the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul. Not one of the fancy ones from a high-dollar store (that look the same as all the other expensive carpets), but one from a place that was down an alley, off another alley, up some stairs, through a door, down a hall, through maybe a couple more doors. It’s my understanding that though Muslim, the Kurds are the only group who departs from the traditional geometric designs in favor of animals due to their homeland’s proximity to Mt. Ararat (where the Arc tied-up for you non church goers). The best part about mine is it looks like it was made by an 8-year old and the animals are as fanciful and fantastic as they live in those young minds.

Russian dive equipment... I have had my eye on one of those huge watches on the ebay, but other than that, I think you'd be rolling the dice, at best. Got to raise that hard currency... I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a long-range bommer on ebay one of these days. :o

Hello trapezus,

The metal mouthpiece on that russian regulator is the same as the east german Medi. I use these metal mouthpieces on my Cressi-sub full face masks. Exhaust and inhale on the mouthpiece are on opposite sides than western regulators so I turn my bottom label can to the right side so the exhaust hose goes over my right side instead of my left. The clamp ring in the VDH store makes easy to turn top and bottom cans with american double hose and most others such as La Spirotechnique mistrals.

There is a language / translation problem. He was trying to share what he remembered from visiting your part of the world. Nothing bad or negative was meant by what he said.
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

WOW, did that ever not go as intended... I’m sitting here, kinda flush and in shock... :shock: :shock: :shock: :oops: :cry:

Sorry, but Google, or Babel, or whatever translation service REALLY went 180 deg. off the mark if you interpreted what I was saying as an insult. I’m genuinely sorry. To the contrary, it was 100% a COMPLEMENT to 1) this website, for attracting such a diverse group of people from across our tiny planet, 2) your country, for being such a cool and interesting place, with a history that touches so many different points in the development of world civilization, and 3) YOU, for posting here and wanting to share your views/opinions/experiences on whatever you wish.

Granted, my response had little or nothing to do with diving, but how often do I get to talk with a fellow over in Turkey... never,... so I wanted to take the opportunity to share what little experience I had with the place and express what great memories it left with me. (every time I see a scene in TV/movies that was filmed down in the cisterns of Istanbul, I make a point of annoying everyone else in the room with a bunch of “I Was There, I Was There”)

The part about the carpet was again, a very GOOD thing, NOT bad. I love that carpet, because it is so beautifully original, fanciful, expressive, and reminds me of a fantastic summer when my Wife and I were lucky enough to pass through a place that has been the crossroads of all crossroads for 2000+ years. I’d post a picture, but photobucket seems like it has upgraded beyond my home computer and is blocked from my office… maybe I can send something to VDH on facebook at some point..

Anyway, the world is getting smaller and smaller, but at the same time people seem as hesitant as ever to engage with others who are “different” in terms of race, nationality, religion, color, or whatever. I think we are all very fortunate to share such a positive common interest as vintage equipment diving, and then to have found such a good place as VDH to gather and exchange with each other! I now have friends in Brazil, the Philippines, Denmark, France, Spain, Germany, England, Canada, Cuba (by way of Maine), Alaska, Hawaii, some wankers in Australia, the far-off and enchanted lands of Ohio, Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, Michigan and most of the 43 other US states), and I hope a new friend in Turkey... :D

Google tells me that there are 36 major languages spoken in Turkey, so I have no idea how best to post this with the greatest chance of it getting there as intended, so I’m going with English and crossing my fingers.

Peace, Smooth Seas, and Good Diving from Nashville USA,

Fred

ps. the Russian gear in your photos is real interesting, and if I'm ever fortunate enough to make a return trip to your neck of the woods, I'll be sure to bring my mask and look you up for a guided tour! :wink:

In 1997 I spent a couple of weeks working in Ereğli, Turkey
I was staying in Akçakoca.

The place I stayed was very nice.

Interesting 3 stage that looks like a two stage at first glance. Pretty minimal cooling between stages makes me think it runs hotter than most. Have you used this?

I bought 12 years ago Azerbaijan used 12 years without problem but so noisy..
It's loud as a tractor while working.. my wife didnn't want at home.
Russian products are poor quality and ugly but if made for red army they are too strong as AK 47 :) this is one of them..

I have an English translation of a Russian diving manual titled;
"Manual of SCUBA diving"
"Sprovochnik Plovvtsa-Podvodnika"
by S.Ye. Bulenkov
Ministry of Defense,
Moscow, Russia
1968, 278 pages (translated 11 April 1969)
12 Chapters
Line drawings- no pictures

I some how recall some one, possibly a diving student gave it to me..It is a US Government sponsored translation on 8-1/2 X11 standard size US paper.

The Russian units were as follows:

The Double hose Double tank Russian units were as follows;
AVM-1 "Podvodnik-1'
AVM-3
AVM-1m
Ukrania
Shap-40

The double hose triple tank;
ShAP -62

Any information on the above units?
