Cleaning and Polishing Regulators

Tue Apr 04, 2006 3:58 pm

Hi Everyone,
What do you use to clean the chrome on your regulators? Please include the brand name. I would like to put a coat of wax on them so they do pit.

Thanks in advance.

I clean them in white vinegar or Bryan's magic formula. I then polish them with a chrome/metal polish like Blue Magic that specifically states that it is safe for use on chrome. Such polish/cleaners are avialable at auto and motorcycle shops. Make sure it is for chrome/brass etc. Excessively harsh polish will damage the chrome. I don't wax them beyond that but I suppose a light waxing with pure yellow carnuba wax would be acceptable, pure carnuba wax, not a cleaner polsih containing carnuba. JFYI, the Blue magic will ruin the decals and the paint on the square lables if you scrub them with it, it is to abrasive for the soft enamel.
