Nemrod Snark III completed

Thu Oct 20, 2011 5:58 pm

A Nemrod to add to my DAAM and Mistral. Found out that the parts are non existent (let me know if I'm wrong!) A little bit disappointing as it seems like a great reg (But IMO a bit harder to work on than USD regs). Managed to replace o-rings and I was lucky in that the LP diaphragm, mushroom exhaust and HP and LP seats were all OK. Added USD hoses and mouthpiece from VDH. The OPR valve has me beat at the moment. A simple answer in the short term is to attach a modern downstream second stage and LP inflator on a t-junction but I'd like to get it back to original working order. If anyone's rebuild one could you let me know any procedures for the OPR valve. All the best.

I own a Nemrod Snark III Silver and it's one of my favorite regs. I literally brought it back from the dead with the help of annectens on this board. Once the parts are obtained I found the Snark to easier to work on then a Royal or a DA. It also breaths as good or better then those. I use mine with a set of Bryan's green USD silicone hoses and a green straight mouth piece. It turns out that one of Bryan's single stage low pressure diaphragm's make a fine replacement for OEM. Enjoy the reg. It will become one of your go to's.

Very nice Nemrod... My first double hose is a early Snark III. Very nice breather and one of my favorites.

Nice reg.
Correct me guys (and I know you will :) ) if I am wrong but won't a USD single stage diaphragm work on the Nemrods? I need to know as well, I have one as a winter project....along with a Dacor and a Trieste.

I may take you up on that offer later in the winter. I have 3 regs to restore, a Nemrod being one of them. Do you know of any other internal parts that I may need that can not be substituted with parts from another reg? I have never been inside a Nemrod. My Nem did not come with hoses so I will be using USD ones with a USD or Voit mouthpiece, at least for now.

I would change the LP valve and the HP membrane, and i can send them together with the exhaust membrane. But don't worry, tell me what you need and you will have it.

I have also just got one these which the seller claims is over 30 years old...

I note however they made them up to 1998 and wondered if there was any way of identify its vintage?

The serial number on it is 29800

Perhaps 07/1998 looking at the Duckbill?

HP Port Which Makes It A Later Version...

Note also the sticky label on the yoke...

It is in very good shape and I have tried it on a tank and with luck I will try in the water next weekend...

I am not a Nemrod historian, there are others who know more. That being said, the date that your seller says could be accurate. Your regulator does not have a port for low pressure access. Here is mine which I am quite sure is one of the last series made and you can see the low pressure access port, just below the over-pressure valve.

Also your sticker label is a little older than the last ones:

Maybe some Nemrod authority can verify your regulator.

Hi,
I have the exact Nemrod Snark 111 double hose as pictured with the red and green label, same sticker on yolk.No serial number bought from mt student Jeff Arnt trained him 1976.
I also completed the factory Nemrod double hose repair class at Dema in 1998.
The intermediate overpressure valve is set to blow at 210 psi,if leaks before that tighten down the adjustment screw till it stops leaking. Now reset ip to 130 psi,Nemrod recomends setting this at 2500 psi 205. bar.
And No Bryan and Rob ,I don't have fifty of them in the original box MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Allan,
your black and silver label was the last one Nemrod produced as shown in my 1997 Color Nemrod catalog.

I just bought one from a guy at work that looks identical to Allan's but with the Nemrod heavy yoke, which I've never seen before.

Thanks for the feedback...

On Friday I got to use my one for a 65 minute dive (mainly at 3 metres / 10ft with a little time at 6 metres/ 18ft

Used a 1978 12 Litre 207 bar 3000psi tank and ended up with 60 bar / 900psi.

Unit worked well with no issues :)

Next thing on the list is to measure myself up for a classic tank harness.
