What are those round labels adhered to the box cover with? How do you remove the label (which is actually a thin metal silkscreened medalion) without damaging it ? Just two mysteries of the universe I am currently pondering.

Let me see.... the old tried and true method is with a broad tip flat screwdriver, ya just pry around the edges until ya get that scalloped look, then with a pair of vise grips, grabone of the scalloped edges and start to lift and twist...no kidding, i saw this being done in the 1970 by some teen/20 something kid who didnt like the label.
You may want to try some nail polish remover, as it tends to disolve gums and glues, but be careful about getting it on the silk screened part.
heat also softens glue, but dont put it in the mocrowave... the application of heat from the point of view of using a heat gun or a 1500 watt haior dryer, and see if you can get the lable moving. From what i have seen, it was a contact type of cement used. a good one too... god luck though

James, could you get a really thin piece of wire under one side and move it across? Like a #8 or 10 guitar string? Similar to the way you remove glued on trim on a car or on the fork legs of a bike. Those labels are pretty tough! Why are you taking it off? Are you looking to reproduce them?
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

I have not been thinking to reproduce them, did not think more than a few were gone missing. No, the reason I want to remove it is that the RAM I am working on now--and if it does not start to behave real soon will be visiting you!!!!!---has an excellent case but somehow the metal medallion has a few very small dents. These dents do not go through into the body---not at all. I hate dents--they make me go nuts. I can live with scratches but not dents---oh God!!!! So, I want to pull the medallion off and bump the dents out and reinstall it.
Concerning reproducing the things, the easiest route may be to cut some .012 brass or stainless stock and then have a decal made to attach to the stainless disc and then adhere that to the regulator with the contact cement--as opposed to the silkscreening and all that. I have not much put a lot of thought into that though so not sure what would be most viable.
Oh, I see the boys want a walk--off we go.
