Mon Sep 22, 2008 1:02 pm

Ok I just got a new toy. I know nothing about this KIT and would appreciate any info you may have? I would like to get this diveworthy and perhaps bring with me to a SAND DOG someday? The tanks do NOT appear to have any markings on them at all so I know Karl will fill them for me he he.
The set arrived to me with 150 BAR and an LOAD of spare parts....

Aaaah! Comrade Ivan! I've read about these set ups on the boards before. Seems to me our Red brothers filled these sets through the regulator some how. That's an interesting find you have there.

This rig was invented before masking tape......I'm just using the paint job as a reference point for my statement.
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

You sure its not a PUDWUDNIK MK 1, those flesh colored..uh.. duckbills look a little funny. Don't get caught wearing #13! Just joshin', of course, nice find there, Rob. You might ask Dan Barringer about it, I think he has some Russian regs.

http://www.nobubblediving.com/little.diver.htm is a link to a cute triple unit. At the close of the cold war the Soviet government could not pay anyone, but allowed military products to go out the door as a substitute. There are hundreds of rebreathers and scuba units like yours being sold around Europe. The link above is to a guy who brought many of them back.

I owned a Russian rebreather and they are well built. They had no budget limitations. Where we used 50 cents in plastic, they use 50 dollars in bronze. The Russian units were made to be filled without dissasemby. They have a working pressure of 200 bar and are usually over constructed. Metric adapters need to be used and the connectors are common DIN. Most come in a military containers like yours. They are complete with tools and repair parts. Usually they have a second set of hoses. If you get a transfill whip made you can decant from scuba that you presently have. Keep your pressure at 150 bar and I am sure you will be safe. It would be a good idea to pull the valves and inspect the tanks, but they will not be testable in the USA. You might find someone to test them but not stamp them. That was what I did. At least, even without a stamp, I knew they were safe,

I hope you enjoy the rig. Good Luck, Steve

Ok looks like I found some info on the set up.

http://books.google.com/books?id=sTLJhH ... t#PPA20,M1

It appears the tanks are 7 litre and are rated for 150 BAR.....

Note that on page 10 the Soviets claim to have invented the Aqualung at the same time as the French.......

Yeah, while Cousteau was inventing the snorkel the commies invented something like a giant dry snorkel. It was powered by large cylinders of vodka.

No Capitalist Slobs vill be allowed to use the superior Soviet Engineering!!!! :x

I know those flesh tone ducks are pretty creepy looking.

According to one of the VDH brains.....LUIS X.....

At 150 BAR you have 0.24 cu ft X 150 BAR = 36 Cu ft.
At 100 BAR you have 0.24 cu ft X 100 BAR = 24 Cu ft.

I think the manual that I found on the net stated that they were 150 BAR so that woul make them 36 cf tanks........

I may get Douchebag to check his figures though. 8)
