worthy causes

From time to time, I am struck by the plight of those who are less fortunate than I have managed to be in life. I see when i go diving those who long to be with us, yet do not have the means to get the gear. Some of my gear I may lend (except my RAM), and some i just give because its the right thing to do.

I have an extra DA body, and horseshoe, some extra band clips (I use band clamps now), an extra LP stem and I can put a new seat face in it .

Is there anyone we know that would be a good addition to our sport, that we may be able to help get a leg up if we rumaged thhrough our parts bins and cobbled together a reg? Christmas is comming and a reg is always a nice one to have under the tree?

I am short of mouthpieces and cages and hoses, but i got just about everything else.

If there were such a person I would gladly donate the rest of the items you need. I would hate to see it on E-bay Dec 26th or something like that but I'm open to the idea if someone can come up with the right person.

The regulator I gave away at Lake Wazee went to a nice young man about 13-15? He could not have been more excited! Very rewarding experience for all of us.

That is very kind and generous of you Bryan.

You have re-affirmed my faith in humanity, by putting people before profits.. thanks.

Now all we need to do is search for the one whose need is most.

I am in the process of sending the bodies out to be powder coated, a nice high gloss 95% black mirror finish as tough as nails (poly) . When it comes back, I will gather those parts which are suprlus to me and send it off to you bryan if that is ok . Depending on how the boxes turn out, I would be willing to throw them in as well.

The recipient would end up with a nice looking piece of kit which no doubt after your finished working your magic would breathe like a saint.

There's a kid on Dan's web, don't remember his name just off, but he might be a consideration.........probably need to check with his parents first, just to make sure it's ok for him to have one.

I have no problem with that at all if someone would like to inquire about him. Would it be too much to ask if the person or persons posted why they would like a double hose for Christmas ?

Rob and one of the Australia gang have some of the black powdercoated regulators I did a couple of years ago.

Having the prospect post a missive as to why they would want a doublehose or why they like diving would not be unreasonable. we might find that the reasons they want to dive and own a double hose were or are the same reasons we do.

Because its really really cool to have two hoses when everyone else can only afford one hose. lol

Yep, my flat black powder coated DA looks sooooo cool and I dive it almost all the time when I can ony take one reg. It looks like a non mag. I commisioned it to be built for me special and Bryan did not dissapoint me. The folks in Bonaire last year gave me some strange looks but that may have just been me in a speedo????

Yes, there was a kid (a kid is someone 17 and younger---lol) on Dan's site but he may have given up. Thing is, I am all for it as long as such persons are certified and have parental permission and there is a real interest in vintage diving. I was very excited that the young fellow won the DA and other stuff at Wazee and also that he was being mentored by another diver and a vintage sort at that.
Another option is a raffle with proceeds to be used to either outifit such a diver or to do something similar. Since I briefly taught school and was a teacher I kind of like the essay idea but at the same time I hate to put people on the spot to ask for something.
I will contribute something to whatever y'all decide and it does not have to be a "kid", I know when I was in college I had absolutely no money to do anything with and I still have not caught up on all the meals I missed cuase I took my eating money and spent it on dive gear or other such things. Anyway, seems like a good thing to do once and a while.
