Modified Navy vest

Sat Mar 31, 2007 3:14 pm

This vest was developed for the military and is similar to the vintage UDT vest. The bladder is single envelope and made of heavy cordura type material. There is a modern dump valve. Two CO2 inflators are included. These are mounted back, instead of front, UDT style and covered with velcro flaps. Modifications were made to make this vest friendly to the vintage sport diver. The dump valve pull lanyard was lengthened with 200# spearfisherman's monofilament, a stiff material which is easy to control and locate by feel. The longer lanyard was secured by glueing a piece of velcro to the fabric. The right side cartridge and inflator were removed and a vintage CO2 inflator trigger was added. To the trigger is attached a short, mono pull cord which is operated by the right hand. The trigger is also attached to the compressed air supply by a short LP hose running to a Phoenix DH. The original flap covering the CO2 cartridge is secured (pulled back) and held by velcro. Lastly, a crotch strap was added.
