I just read on VSS that Stuart has decided not to do a run of hoses. He is afraid he will end up sitting on a large run of silicone hoses.

Hopefully there is room for everyone that wants to be in the hose business.

VDH will not be one of them......

It is unfortunate that Stuart told us for the better part of 6 months that the hoses were being made and that they were going to be made. I wish that Bryan would make them as we all know he is a man of his word and action. If Bryan says he will do something he will.............BANJOS, SEATS, PHOENIX, SILICONE DIAPHRAGMS, LONG YOKES, AWSOME REBUILDS, GREAT FORUM, and much much more.
Many of business owner can learn from that model. Thankyou Bryan and if you do change your mind and make yellers I will buy from you ASAP.

I received an email from Stuart stating that the "tool is fixed" he also stated that his belief is that since VSS had hoses available his hoses wouldn't sell. Therefore he is not marketing his. Apparently most of his hose sales are stateside, and as his would be more expensive than VSS -he would wind up sitting on his.

I feel Stuarts pain. I have been there before and I'm there now with a few things..... I would sooner lick a hot stove as to be in the hose market right now though.....

Thanks for the compliments Rob! I'll continue to do this until the fun runs out or Nemrod stops arguing with all the tools on scuba board..

I wouldn't think that a production run of hoses would run anywhere near the expense of the original tooling of the molds. So if the molds really are finished it is just a lose/lose situation if Stuart doesn't get back in the market at this point.
He seems to think that we all feel we just need one pair of hoses each.
The fact of the matter is that no one is currently making or thinking of making hoses that would fill the void of true reproduction hoses, as far as I know. Yellow and black silicone hoses with seams would be the bomb. He needs to believe in his product.
Oh, well, he sounds like he's made up his mind though. It's everyone's loss, even his own. So much for anticipation.

I wish the best for Stuart no matter what he decides, perhaps someday he will change his mind.

As to arguing with the tools and that doofus NetD--k on scubaDIRboard.com, don't worry over that, on my worst day I can take that whole pack of buffoons on with just one hand typing  . I actually have a large following on that board and many PMs to that effect. There are some good people there actually. Several of the Mods hate me--- :D . Imagine that, little ol"Nemrod :P .

You guys are starting to hurt my feelings!! I have sold none of my fantastic green with white stripe hose sets……What gives? I never said they were reproductions! Just a crappy cheap hose that is not even the right color……Yea sure they leave a bad taste in your mouth when you use them and so what if they look ridiculous on a double hose regulator….Some people are already buying hoses that are just as hideous as mine…..Oh the horror of it all.

I would have purchased a few sets of Stuarts yellow hoses for a Mistral project I’m working on. I have been very impressed with all the ones I have received from him in the past. As it stand right now I’ve already told Dan I’ll take some of his new hoses for the project and I’m sure they will fit great and look fantastic.

And if you want to make hoses for yourself in some other non vintage colors Nemrod gave you the source!

I understand how Stuart must feel right now. With Stuart there will be three hoses to choose from, as Dan is advertising that he is making them too.

However, Stuart's are the only ones that look original. The others just look like replacements. With the other hoses, the rebuilt regulator looks rebuilt. If Stuart's hoses had been available those would be the only ones I would have used in restoring my collection. I have both and would throw away anything not Stuart's, if I could just get his.

Stuart decision is a loss to us all. Should Stuart decide to go ahead, I will replace all of my current replacement hoses with his replicas. I am in for at least five sets of yellow hoses, plus another 3 sets for future use, for a total of 8 sets. I would like black & grey replicas too, but I think the best we could hope for is yellow. Stuart's black or yellow hoses would be a good investment at they will go up in value once Stuart's last run is depleted. If you guys really want your regulator to look like it should, it would be a good idea to dig deep into those pockets.

So....Stuart, my order was for 5 fets, I'll buy 8 sets if you decide to go ahead. Yellow is great, but I'll buy black if that's the way you want to go.

I have already bought two sets and would have been immediantly in the market for more but I was also looking forward to the "other" colors such as the gray and blue, I would have ultimately purchased at least ten more sets--but not all at one time and not all yellow--lol.

New hoses

Thu Jan 25, 2007 1:18 am

Hi,

I already purchased the mouth piece and am waiting for my matching hoses. I would sign up for several pair and pay up front before the run if that would help to remove some risk. I have the feeling others would also be willing to guaranty to purchase a fixed number. My preference is for yellow with green and black to follow. If Stewart could set a goal number needed to allow a minimum run we could set up one of those thermometers they have on the telethons and see how close we can get.

I'd definitely be up for a couple pair of yellow hoses, and at least one pair of green hoses (for when I someday get my hands on a green label Voit Lung)...

I e-mailed Stuart this same idea (Pay-Up-Front). He e-mailed me back that he's still considering producing hoses, but that he still hasn't made up his mind. I think anyone that even remotely interested, should post here or on VSS & let Stuart know we are more than willing to buy his hoses. Even if there are other options.
