No two pictures seem to show the yellow the same shade. Just to clarify a few things. There was only one run of hoses, so they were all identical in colour. They were a neoprene / natural rubber compound.
The colour was matched by Dan Barringer, so will be as close to the original as can be. (does it really matter if it's not exact) I bet there will have been variations in the originals also!
The new silicone is matched to the first run of neoprene, so should be the same, but I never did get to keep a set of the neoprene, so can't say for sure.
Still battling on, so don't give up hope. The new silicone will happen. 'Nemrod' seems delighted with his set.
Thanks for being so patient
Stuart

Well, my hat is certainly off to anyone who can get color matches dead on. I would imagine that color matching rubber compounds would be even more difficult than paint matching. Judging by the photos, whoever did the color matching on Stuart's hoses did extremely well. JMO

Stuart's Yellow Hoses

Wed Nov 22, 2006 2:33 pm

Hi Stuart I think what got me so Excited and Happy about this is when I received my first pair of Yellow Hoses from you through Dan's kind help. I had also just purchased an Original New-Old-Stock U.S.Divers Yellow mouthpiece and when I mounted it on your Yellow 1st Run Hoses, it seemed a perfect match, at least to me. Many friends have commented that they are the same too. <<<Like you say, it really does Not matter at all that the color is Perfect to the original.>>> But it is also surpriseing at how Very many people ( reminded me that my Reproduction Yellow Mouthpiece was NOT matching the yellow hose I had it on, very good at all.) So some people beleive it is not that important includeing me too and some people really Critisize the colors, (which is a little irritating but ok, ha ,ha. You just can not win it seems, ha, ha.) I am VERY happy with the appearance of your New Yellow Hoses and I like everyone else, am so gratefull to you for helping us all have the most Beautifull of the Double Hose Regulators, the Mistral, for our very own. I do hope that a great supply of Tinnerman Clamps can be found in the future, so they can be used on the Mistral regulators. Dan's Regulator in his U.S.Regulator Museum with the yellow Tinnerman clamps says it all as far as true beauty in a double hose regulator. Thank you so much Stuart. :P William

Well, delighted is an understatement, I am amazed at the absolute quality and authenticity combined with superb function. These hoses are hardly felt underwater, they just dissappear. They don't tug and pull and bang my head like a few of the stiffer dipped black hoses I have. Which of course they work just fine but these soft silicone hoses are so much better. Thank you Stuart for your efforts.

I can't wait to get a pair of these yellow hoses and some grey ones too. I just had a new horse collar made in red (as a prototype in case anyone might be interested in a future run.) I am a bit concerned that I might look like Ronald McDonald with the red & yellow though. (hence the grey hoses)

I do have to comment that I can only imagine my rection if someone criticized me for my hoses being one shade off. It would involve me having to buy a new set of Rockets and the other person having to explain his new caudal fin - if you know what I mean...

Yellow Hose with Black Mouthpiece

Wed Nov 22, 2006 7:17 pm

Hi: :D This is a favorite of Rob's I think & is also Very attractive to many of the vintage double hose divers. It Totally Eliminates any color level problems between the yellow hose & yellow mouthpiece & also eliminates any discoloring & staining problems that could occur & be encountered when useing the yellow mouthpiece over very long periods of time, which is really Great too. It is probably the very Smartest way to go actually. I really like both regulator styles. This will make your vintage diving equipment collection much more Attractive to be sure.:P

William,
What IS your new avatar?! It looks like an octopus attacking a diver wearing an oval mask, but it's really hard to tell :?

Hi Duckbill :D Yes, it is a diver being attacked by a large Octopus but a Hard Helmet Diver. It is under Divers Helmet on eBay. It is too small and blurred, so I will have to go and find something better in a little while. I think this the same print but it is reversed. William :P

Cool picture, William. I remember when an octopus bigger than that got ahold of me in Monterey once and.......... Funny how perspectives change!

However, the dark and light areas in your avatar don't even match those in the picture you posted. Were there others? Are you sure that is the one? At first I was just curious, but now that I've seen that one I want to see more!
