I have been using a hair blower set in air only (no heat) to dry my hoses for a wile. I use it frequently but not necessarily after every weekend of diving.

It works extremely well. It drys the hoses very quickly.

To clean the hoses I occasionally use the soft round brush that is sold by Camelbak for their hydration packs. It fits the hoses perfectly and it scrubs inside the convolutions. With the brush I may use some antibacterial liquid dish detergent (I don't do this very often at all).

For booties I use the orange boot dryers shown in the picture. I have a set for my ski boots and a separate set for neoprene boots. I started doing that with my kayaking booties. Does are the worst. This boot dryers provide a very low heat and you have to let them work overnight. They are available at ski shops and other outdoor outfitters.

Hose Dryer

:P That is a pretty Cool Looking Rig you have there Luis. It looks as though you have the Ends of the rubber tubes plugged and maybe have side holes in the tubes. Actually though. I would think, just having an adapter on the end of the blow gun, so it would fit the Hose snugly would do the trick. I mean, as long as there is a great amount of air moving through, that should be good enough I would think. I do know that Dish Detergent is very bad for many types of plastics and think it is the same for certain types of rubber too. It causes Cracking. I wonder if surgical soaps like Betadine Solutions would be harmfull to the rubber? They are mild enough to the human body to be used internally on very bad open wounds and jsut about Any intrusive surgery even Brain Surgery, like I need, Ha, Ha. So, maybe that stuff might be something that would work very well? I really would like to hear what Aqua-Lung has to say. I am Positive they have Research and Product Trials useing many types of Antibacterial Cleaners for their Hoses. There is always a Liability Concern in Manufacturing something that sould cause Sickness and Injury to a person useing their double Hose Regulators, like the New Mistral, that have such heavy and Fat Hoses too. Sam described a Very Bad Sounding Pneumonia that sounds like a Killer. If anyone proved that thge Hose Rubber Aqua Lung used did promote growth of such Very Bad Germs and no one a Aqua Lung cared, even though they did Know about the problem, well, there are (((Lawers falliing out of the Trees Drooling over such a case))), Ha, Ha. I hope someone out there knows where to call and who to try and speak to at Aqua Lung about this problem. Willam

Blow Gun Rig by Luis

Hey :P NOW I see what the Air Blow Gun (the Whole Thing) that Luis made, is all about. The picture , on the right side, is a little too dark for my old eyes and I just did not see, that it ALREADY has BOTH the Double Hose Regulator (Hoses) on it useing the adapter and Drying both of them at the same time and that it really looks Perfect to me. Verry Professional looking too. :P William

I need to correct myself on an earlier comment I made on the sprial hose not offered..........I sat down last night and reexaimined the hoses that came with my R-4........they are spiral,...wide gaps between the convolutions and made of heavy rubber coated fiber like a radiator hose.......I could use these on my tractor's radiator they are so heavily constructed...( I won't).....however, not good for breathing out of, in or under the water............

What is recommended for rebreather hoses and also for the New Mistral.

I doubt AquaLung of today has any liability for the old USD. They may own some of the designs but best I can tell, they are not really the same company

I am pretty sure once upon a time there were soft bristlebrushes with a long wire handle that could be spun around in the hoses.

I don't think divers were dying from pneumonia, healthy people don't usually get pneumonia, I think it was more like a kennal cough.

I am not positive but I do not think the mild liquid dish soaps with anti-bacterial action would harm neoprene rubber, I could be wrong.
