More likely the rubber in the seat is hard...which is one of the big problems both Ed and myself had.

When I did mine, I filled the spoon shaped part of the lever where the LP seat is so it was flat, and then bonded a standard LP seat to it. Seals fine, but your mileage may vary!

What with...epoxy, JB weld or something else ??? I tried silicone but that was too soft which is about the time I decided to move on to other projects unitl I had more time.

Mcmaster carr sells round rubber balls in various durometers that if cut in half with a hot sharp razor blade will work in the 2nd stage lever...years ago i wasted a lot of time trying to make a decent breathing regulator out of them but it never happened.
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

JB weld as I recall, and filed flat. Then bonded the seat. I rebuilt this one for my friend who was the original owner. He then gave it back to me when moving away before he used it, so sadly it has not seen real water still since. So as I said, your mileage may vary. It's a beautiful regulator, but from its breathing characteristics, I have not dove it in open water yet.
