Treasureman, what I want to know is- Does that dive shop have Superman working there!? If the tank is in hydro and vis, how would they know about the lining still being in the tank unless they remove the valve? I guess I should assume you tried to have it visualed there. Hey, if they failed the visual just based on the presence of the liner, I'd have them have their hydro guy, or whoever, tumble it out as has been mentioned. If that shop is your only choice in your area, just make sure that particular shop has the work done so that your tanks are in their files as being good.

When i bought the tank it was in VIS, but after the winter layover it was not. sent it in for a new vis and got told..nyet has epoxy liner, could be pinhole corrossion etc. they tumbled it, still said nyet no vis approval, tank condemned.

At the time i did not have the knowledge I do now. They are a PADI dive centre, and have always ben up and up with me, I have spent thousands there. Clearly there is more to this than meets the eye.

And the latest is they dont pass visual on tanks that have the vinyl coating on the outside, because there could be a small hole in the vinyl that allows water to seep in under the vinyl and build rust and who knows...kaboom.

Treasureman.......I have two sets of vinyl coated tanks, one that was rusting under the vinyl on the outside..that one I stripped and had nickeled....believe me, the rust under the vinyal shows up as a blister, like bad paint bubbling up.............same on the inside........it'd be like braile so a blind man could see it...........ahemmmm...........
