I Wonder how many friends have noticed & could see the Framed Pictures on our living room wall and make out what they are of, just above the Nemrod "Crusero" Speargun, ha, ha? The Far right picture is me and my 2 little girls at Wilmington Beach in 1978, their 1st time in Ever seeing the Ocean. "That was so much fun for All of us that day. To the left is Priscilla on our 40 foot fiberglass Shark Fishing Boat that I had bought from the "Mote Marine Shark Research Laboratories" in Sarasota Florida. After getting bitten by one in 1968, while Cyndy and I were just dateing and swimming in the waters close to shore. In 1988 I bought our largest boat. Center picture is one of me and a 9 foot Lemon Shark. His Jaws are still on the opposite wall in our living room. Left of that picture is Cyndy my wife and her pet parakeet, "Sweety" in 1973. Left of Cyndy and the last picture was my Youngest family member, "Chomp". Chomp was a Crocodile that Cyndy had bought for me as a Birthday Present in the late 1980s. He was only 10 inches long and had a Ravenous Appetite. He actually turned our German Shepard Dog into a Nervous Wreck and "Cappy" our poor dog, just "lost it". Whenever he got even close to the Lexan cage, Chomp would try and get him and Cappy got worse and worse each month that passed. We eventually had to give our dog away because of his extreme nervous condition he developed over about a 1 year period, ha,ha. A Kind of "Doggy Nervous Breakdown". Not Kidding. He started ( biteing ) and that is when our puppy had to go, after biteing Priscilla on the hand 2 times in one week and then starting to show an overly aggressive attitude towards Cyndy too, like he was going to try and attack her, bearing his teeth badly at her. He had to go then. In just 5 years, Chomp was over 7 feet long. He was also strange and different in how he acted and had grown in size dramatically, they said, as compared to Any other ones like him, who would barely be 5 feet long at that age. Chomp was Overly aggressive it seemed. Best way to describe that was he was excessively territorial. I Never held him and he ate live food, like mice when he was smaller and Rats when he was larger in size. He ate so much that we started raiseing the food ourselves, to save the expense of buying Live food every week. We set it up so that it worked very very well and always had plenty of food for him. "Chomp" would eat Very well too, just about Every Single Day. Normally, these animals eat good only Once every week to two weeks. But he was so active, I guess he was simply extra happy, because of how we treated him ( never tried to hold him, ever, Keeping him very warm, year round with heat lights in his caged area and feeding him only Live Food and him having a 470 Gallon, 95 Degree Heated, circulated pool, a Large Insulated Jaccuzi Like Pool we made for him and piped it up well, so 95 degree water circulated constantly, to protect him from any cold weather, year round. ( There were kids from everywhere comeing to the front door in the evenings, who wanted to come and see "Chomp" eat. That was fine untill they started climbing over the fence into our back yard when we were out. That is when I started getting really worried that a kid would eventually break in and end up getting hurt or worse. The enclosure was actually very safe & good, with a Fenced Roof over the Florida Room Caged Area and also a Heavy locked lid over his Pool. Chomp had a 15 ft X 15 foot Lexan Enclosure ((( indoor/outdoor grey carpeting on the floor inside the Florida Room. Crocs ONLY go to the bathroom in Water, so there was never a mess to have to clean up.))) Just drain and wash up his tank once a week dumping the dirty water into our Saltwater Canal into the Canal is all and was easy to do. From the 1/4 inch thick Lexan Enclosure I made a Fiberglass Tunnel going Up & Out to his Private, ha, ha, Heated 450 Gallon Pool just outside in our yard, next to the Florida Room Wall. Being a Male Croc, when in his Pool Only, Chomp Roared All the time 3 to 4 times a day, actually tickleing your bare feet by the Terrazo Floor "Vibrateing' strongly. Unbeleivable he was so Powerfull. We had the "quietest Neighberhood in Florida other than him Roaring". All the Dogs kept quiet All the time, day & night, ha,ha. He seemed more like a Dinosaur than anything I have seen before and the "Meanest Animal" on earth too. I was the Only one to take care of him and his enclosures and when I called him, just like calling a Dog is done, he would come Flying Out of His Pool, Down the Ramp and come to a slideing Stop just on the other side of the Lexan Wall in front of me. I usually fed him then, sometimes even twice in a day. The Problem with our relationship was that, ( then,) he immediately had his Natural "Killer Instincts" kick and he would try to Attack me, "Slamming his head into the unbreakable 1/4 inch thick clear Lexan wall, ha, ha". But he was Becomeing too dangerous to keep in such an area as our residential home. Not to me but to others who might try and get into our Florida Room when we were out. He had
No Fear of humans whatsoever or anything else at all for that matter, ha, ha. He was the king of his dowmain it seemed. I was forced to give him to a friend , Chris & Sheila McQuade, who owned the large"Gulf Coast Reptiles" Commercial Reptile Business in N. E. Fort Myers. That was a wonderfull place for Chomp to go and live Safely for him and everyone else too. They were so glad to get Chomp ( for free too, ha, ha ) because of his Large & Fat Size and how Unusually Active & Aggresive he was all the time, that they made him their Business' "Mascot", keeping him in their business's front Entranceway Pond Area and useing him for their Breeding program. I heard he did very well in his New Job, ha, ha, ha and was still growing Very rapidly too. He had ( Large "Green & White Permanent Stripes") all over his body which made him very unusual looking, actually very attractive to everyone. His Head is very Visable in the Picture on the wall and the Stripes can be seen easily. Every now and then, when Cyndy and I were downtown, we would see a person wearing a T-Shirt with a large picture of our "Chomp" on it's chest and his name, in large letters along with their Business Name too, just below Chomps' Picture". I did Not like having to give up my loved and ( so called Pet, ha, ha, that I had raised for 5 years, so to this day, I have not gone by the Reptile farm to see Chomp. Just too hard to do.
