The stream air

A question for those that know: did the u.s. divers double hose regulator model stream air exit the assembly line with yellow hoses? i have seen the stream air in a few collections and i am wondering if the yellow hoses on this model are factory correct. all reply's, even from nemrod, are welcome.

From the info that I have heard and read about, the Stream Air regulator was pretty short lived due to the ventui nozzle being poorly designed. You will see in most collections a Stream Air with a yellow Mistral sticker above the red Stream Air square label. They simply put the updated Mistral nozzle in before it left the factory. Other than the re-design of the venturi nozzle, the Stream Air and Mistral are identical inside. Many early production Stream Air’s were converted to the Mistral nozzle by the dive shops and individuals after hearing how much better they breathed with the Mistral venturi nozzle in them. I have even seen DX’s that had been converted to Mistral nozzles…. So in my OPINION it’s very likely and quite possible that a lot of Stream Air’s left the factory with yellow hoses.

I often refer to the Stream Air as the Scream Air which in my experience seems to be more prone to the noise making/honking/stuttering at high cylinder pressures or above water than the Mistral does.
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

thanks for your opinion and info, bryan. the stream air i have came with some petrified black hoses clamped on with rusty tinnermans to a straight black kleer ease mouthpiece. the regulator i have does have the mistral sticker on it and a nozzle that looks like a mistral. but the nozzle does not point directly into the horn.
i have seen enough regulators modified to have thought that someone might just have installed yellow hoses at a later date. the dx overpressure regulator that i picked up was completely missing the original hose/metal mouthpiece setup and someone had installed a mistral nozzle, black hoses with the straight kleer ease black mouthpiece. this i believe this was a common practice with the dx overpressure model.
