usd,
It took over a week for you to discover my spell check was not working! Yes it is the Hamburg quarry located in Hamburg,NJ on route 517 off route 23 behind the White Rock inn(later The Quarry Bar, I have beer mug in front of me,presently). It maybe in the middle of The Crystal Springs Golf Club now? Anybody?

Now tell us what the near by town of franklin was noted for?

"Franklin, known as the Fluorescent Mineral Capital of the World, is located over a rich ore body containing more than 150 minerals, many of them fluorescent and 25 of which are found nowhere else on earth." :?: - Wikipedia

So that's why people from northern Jersey glow when they pee...

I'm sorry Bernie. Today is the first time I saw your post. Any way I have been trying to get in touch with a man who drove us to the ymca during the winter and to Hamburg. I cant remember his name but I remember the big mustache he had. My other dive buddy was John Osenko that went with us.

gave up the land of spray-tanned women, for the real thing gulf-side in FL...

I suppose I can see the logic, but you can't beat the Subs & Cheese Steaks up there in the old stomping grounds. A man has got to have his sustenance, and you can't live on bikinis alone!

Update,
Hamburg Quarry/White Rock Inn.the Quarry is now known as "Heritage Lakes at the Quarry" located on Quarry Road (route 517) off Route 23 in Hamburg,New Jersey. Once offered Scuba Diving and Swimming
in it's spring feed clear water and was a popular spot for training year round from the mid 1950's-mid to 1970's.
As I couldn't contact anyone about the status of this site,I visited it while on a road trip/photo assignment to New Jersey in November 2012 and found a private non gated community complete with condos and homes. The 2 quarries which are joined by a tunnel are now fenced off, The smaller quarry is now the Fishing Area (no swimming/diving)( no ice skating.) The larger Quarry is the Swimming area complete with New Jersey bather code 826-8.4posted i.e. shower before entering water, looks like swimming would be limited to the south end where 3 life guard chairs (with more rules posted) and sand beach is located.

end of update

Thanks for sharing the wonderful shots. Amazing stuff. Love the black and white, good camera work too. If that was his mom, she is a good photographer!
