1945 Cousteau Film

Tue Mar 07, 2006 2:21 pm

I know I'm spelling this wrong but I think it was called Epages?? Forgive my spelling.
It's from 1945, silent film with a few story board frames. Great close ups of the original double hoses, the funky 3 cylinder setup with multiple valve knobs. Fins that look like they would cripple you to walk in them! What a really cool short film. I think you might ask Ryan about getting a copy if you've never seen it.
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

I think it was EPAVES? Don't speak French though, so I don't know what it means. It is a neat bit of old film though.

The film is "Epaves" Wrecks in english. It was filmed starting in 1943-44 I believe and released in 1945. I have read some conflicting reports on dates. Here is a photo of the rig they are diving in the film. It was Cousteau's second undersea film and his first featuring the Aqua-Lung. I am trying to track down a couple more of the early films and then I will combine them one DVD. These are short films. Epaves is only 11min or something like that.

Guess I'll need to start looking back at a post to ensure that no-one has already posted a reply after I have read it.
