Knife carry

Sat Apr 28, 2007 1:19 pm

Where do you carry your knife--vintage and modern? I never liked to carry it on my lower calf. I have worn the knife up on my upper leg when I was younger, ususally with just the wet suit top as was once popular. Nowadays, I carry it on my left wasit strap of my BC if using a wing/BP (non vintage). I have also carried a knife on the weight belt with or without weights, just to carry the knife. Original style SeaHunt harness does not really have a place for a knife so your back to either the leg, arm or carrying it on a weight belt. It also seems most people carry their knife on the left leg if worn on the leg and also on the left with a belt. My buddy back in the 70s carried his ScubaPro dagger on his left arm.

Vintage, I prefer my Seahawk either on a belt or on my upper left leg. Modern I prefer my Tekna Dagger on my wing/BP harness on the left waist.

OK, so wearing a vintage harness, where would you carry your vintage knife?

I guess I'm a creature of habit. I wear my knife on the inside of my left calf. It makes it easy to reach being right-handed and makes it less likely to become entangled. :)

Rob, I can't argue with you. Crimedivers style blends the best of both macho and vintage all in one. 8)

Definately inside left calf, to many years kelp diving to change.
However, my Vulcan always goes on the belt.

Looking for a new place to carry. Stopped wearing on my calf after loosing an americana knife in the 80's. Used to wear on my weight belt - but now too much extra body mass to access the knife easily. Considering mounting to shoulder straps or sternum strap.

Inside right calf (I'm a lefty). Unless I'm using my Voit skin diver knife, which goes on the snugpack waist strap...
Quick Robin, to the Voitmobile!
