Need corrugated hose

Fri Mar 01, 2013 9:32 pm

Greetings,
The corrugated hose on my '74 Scubapro horse collar finally quit. A real drag since it will no longer be 100% original The newer hoses don't get favorable reviews.
Any suggestions?

My best,

Welcome to the forum.

I would check around your LDS or eBay as they are a fairly common BC. I have picked up several old Stab jackets for a few bucks over the year. Someone here probably has one.

Unless you really have to wear a BC to get on a dive boat I would try to dive without the BC. I am not sure what kind of diving you are doing and what kind of exposure suit you will wear, if any. By carefully fine tuning your bouyancy and not overweighting as many divers do you can probably do fine without the bc, especially if you dive steel 72 cf tanks for example.

Hello Crimediver,

Thank you for the reply.

Figured I could conjure one up on the web before I head out to the local shops. I Was just going through the gear and discovered cracks in the hose.

I was certified in 1980 and all the gear I used was used even then. I still dive the same gear (except the tanks). Never bothered with a jacket type bcd and don't have a clue (or rather not interested) in other devices. The horse collar does the trick and it is what I'm used to. I have dove without it quite a bit but had some issues. I wear a full 7mm suit (New England) and use aluminum 80's. Perhaps fine tuning including going back to steel tanks. It would be nice not to use one. Most of my diving is from shore though some opportunities have come up where I will be boat diving from a charter and figure they won't let me dive without it. Would rather be prepared than have to wear something I'm not used to or not being able to dive.

My best,
Squidlips
