Rocky Kent Rockwell Passing

Hi,
I'm sorry to have lost one of diving true friends,technical writer,researcher,and writer.
Rocky died last night after a long battle with cancer.
Rocky was the technical advisor,writer for the HDS magazine for many years.
He also supported hDS thru working at the DEMa booth for many years.

I met Rocky and wife Nancy at the first meeting of the Historical Diving Society, twenty years ago. We discovered he only lived a few miles from my office, so we visited often to discuss our mutual interest in the preservation of recreational diving history.

When HDS HQ moved to Santa Maria and he was the editor of the Journal he often spent the night at our Central California home.

Rocky was going to write the History of Sea Hunt..He traveled all over the US interviewing those who had worked on the program. Let's hope that some day Nancy will organize his papers and publish a long over due Sea Hunt book.

Unknown to most Rocky also owned a SCUBA diving shop in Las Vegas, Whamo-divers. The shop was the very first dive shop in that area originally established by the late Harry Wham. Some may recall Harry he was very involved in the diving world of the 1950s & 1960s.

Mrs Miller and I send our condolences to Nancy and Rocky's family
