Wanted dead or near death nozzles

Thu Jul 19, 2012 7:20 am

Like always I am looking at a possible new tool or maybe a service. I have been ask if I could resurface/restore a badly damaged HP orifice and honestly I don't know but I have to try. Before taking on a sick but not dead nozzle, I want to try it on some hopeless cases. So, I am looking for any HP nozzles that are damaged beyond the point where they can be restored with a simple polishing. DA's, RAM's and especially Mistral bodies are all canidates, actually any nozzle of any kind. If any of you have badly damaged and unusable nozzles of any kind, I am interested in getting them. You might even get it back fixed.....or just as likely in 2 pieces. :)

- I have often wondered about a better solution than the spinning dowel re-face. In our gun making business, we use piloted crowning tools to finish the muzzles of gun barrels... Re-facing the orifice of regulator nozzles looks like a very similar machining operation. If you need to have such a piloted crowning or reaming tool made, I'd recommend Pacific Tool and Gauge at http://www.pacifictoolandgauge.com/.
- I have a couple really ugly nozzles I took off corroded DAAMs. If you want to PM me an address I'll send at least one to you.

I'd be willing to bet that Herman can come up with a tool to do the job. :)

You might wanna send a wheelbarrow over my way.
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

Well, I don't need that many but I am sure some are going to die a horrible death before I get it right. With the Phoenix, DAs and RAMs are not really a big deal now. I am really thinking more along the lines of Mistrals and the like. I figure starting with DAs/RAMs will be easier due to more test subjects and those that get trashed will not be as big a loss. Once I get that right, then I may test it out on more rare subjects.

I will get back with you when I get back....all is good with the camera.
