East German MEDI

Sun Feb 26, 2012 6:13 pm

Are the East German MEDI regs any good really? I have heard that they are but looking for other inpit. Also are they single or 2 satge and can you get parts for them?
Someone told me that diving a double hose reg will kill me. I had no idea these things were dangerous.

1. Go to the Vintage Diving Forum Section

2. In the search box type in MEDI and hit enter.

3. Approximately 4 pages of reading/comments/pictures on the subject.
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB

Medi Is the best breather. Better than RAM even. There are a couple german sites dedicated to Medi. Use google translate tool to read them. Wagon wheels or diaphragms will be a hundred dollars! I have a parts kit unopened that costed more more than the regulator. Most of the site discusses fabricating your own parts.I quit the Medi adventure a few years ago. I think I sold a parts here and gave up.Mouthpiece looks cool but the intake and exhaust is on opposite sides than "our"regulators..instead of exhuast on left with Medi its on the right...etc

I bought a Medi from Germany. It was new and came with a full face mask. I sold it to a friend who loves it. He has a passion for full face mask scuba and surface supplied gear. The mouthpiece screws off and attaches to the mask. These pictures were taken on one of our recent vintage dives. He is using a Drager cylinder and back pack. Medi used DIN connectors.
