AGA from a vintage 1st stage

Tue Jan 31, 2012 5:25 am

When I do Harbor work I like to wear an AGA mask since it keeps all the crud off of my face: Bottom paint, sewage from boats, dead fish debri, etc.

I was wondering if anyone has run their FFM off of an older 1st stage.

Right now, my AGA is connected to a Poseidon 1st stage, but I would like to sell and use something else since it would be worth more as a complete unit, than just a 2nd stage.

I'm think the MR12 1st would be ideal since I would still have a drysuit hose and SPG.

Just a little off-topic, but if your objective is to keep crud off your face, howzabout a cressi rubber face mask which you can use with your PRAM? :D Still have your SPG and dry-suit options there :D

There are a crap load of old(er) Conshelfs around. Those are fine for cold water and use the same internal parts as your RAM/Phoenix.

This ^^^^^^ Couple it with a KMB mask and you are diving in style.

That's it then. this thread has encouraged me to restore something else that's been sitting on my shelf:

Think I'll pair it off then with my restored USD Pro Diver 1st.

Spend 3 hours in a Kirby band mask and you will know where the term "Kirby Jaw" comes from. Maybe it won't bother you, but my jaw was always sore after a long dive day. Let me know what you find. I think the lighter masks such as your AGA and the Cressi are easier to handle and may give you better vision too. But, you definitely ought to fix up the KMB and try it out. Look for cracks in orange plastic frame.

I've always used the Conshelf first stages with my AGA. It works fine and you won't ever outbreath it. I have used it with KM bandmask such as KMB 10 and EXO's.i have the environmental kit on my first stage. Zero problems with that set-up.
