Drado ,I will be going back to PI later this year,

Mon Jan 30, 2012 11:58 pm

Drado I will be back in the Philippines later this year. I will be taking care of business there. I am rebuilding my second DA Aqua Master (Chrome). I would like to modify it to a Phoenix, put the new duckbill eliminator and yellow hoses. I hope that before I come back to the Philippines all the things I would like for my regulator are available already at vintage Double Hose, so I can buy those parts, modified to a balanced first stage (Phoenix) and tested. I will bring it with me to the Philippnes. I will post two months in advance my arrival in Manila, by the way where do you dive? Is it in Batangas,Mindoro or somewhere? And for Bryan when will you have the Phoenix and yellow hoses available? Just asking.. Thank you.

I was going to suggest a Phoenix indeed when they're back in the store. Otherwise, you're free to borrow one of mine :D My #1 PRAM is a rechromed DA, and is my go-to reg. My loaner is Usually my FX non-mag. (See my sig line)

Most of my diving has been done in Batangas (Anilao), though Subic is also becoming a favorite because of the wrecks there. Did my initial certifications were in Mactan, with subsequent forays to Puerto Galera.

I did my Certification in Anilao, with Madz de Vera (NAUI), Aquaveture in Makati in 1994, the last time I was there in the Philippines they told me that previous owner sold Aquaventure. I dive with Mike Sarmiento from Aquaventure, got a question for you. I still have my old BC (still working) that I use to dive before US Divers (Aqualung) MARINER, will it work using the DA AquaMaster?
Still have all my old stuff you might call it antiques,
1) BC Mariner
2) US Divers Blades Fins
3) Dive Alert
4) US Divers boots
5) US Divers gloves
6) US Divers wet suit
7) US Divers Conshelf 21 regulator

Bought some stuff here
1) US Divers Rocket fins (2 Sets)
2) Suunto Mosquito Dive Computer (Have not use it yet still in the box)
3) 45 cu. Aluminum tank for pool diving
4) XS Scuba tank harness (2sets, Medium)

Since it is winter time here I use to practice diving in swimming pool here in Charlottesville.

Thanks

You'll quickly find that this board has a whole ton of answers waiting in the wings :D I remember when I started here on VDH, I spent days reading thread after thread (hey! coming up onto 1 year on the board this Feb 7!).

When I first tried out my DA Aquamaster (pre-phoenix conversion) back when the VDH Explorer program was still up, I attached (via an adapter to the hookah port) an inflation hose for my wing. So quick answer - yes you can use your BCD. If you note in the attached video, that my very first foray in the pool with my DH easily transitioned toward BCD free diving as well:

A quick glance at the FAQ page on the nav bar on top will answer some other questions as well :D
If you need help around the board looking for topics, don't hesitate to ask anyone on the board, and if you need more detailed help, you'll note that under my avatar, there are 2 icons, so you can either PM me or shoot me an e-mail.

I remember diving from Aquaventure once in 2005 when I was freshly certified. It was my first trip to The Cathedral with rental gear:

Subsequent visit to the Cathedral 6 years later with better gear (and a better camera!)

One big thing I envy about you being there is the proximity to such great vintage equipment events (such as Sand Dog), as well as lots of great characters as well! Maybe when you get here, we can convince some of the Oz folks to come on over for an Asia-Pacific meet :D
